The full list of winners from the Game Critics Awards Best of E3 2019 have come in and Nintendo has scooped the Best Family/Social Game category with Luigi’s Mansion 3 for the Nintendo Switch. Luigi’s latest spooky adventure arrives later this year on the Nintendo Switch and hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to get a solid release date. People really still worshipping this Final Fantasy VII game.. It’s good, but all this? idk..
People are just obsessed with FF7.
Other games they’ve made recently like FF13, 14, 15, and Kingdom Hearts all were a pretty big letdown to me and a lot of other people, so I honestly can’t get the least bit excited for just what we’ve seen so far knowing they’ve made a bunch of blunders in their most recent games.
What we’ve seen so far of the combat doesn’t really look that impressive, with most of the combat shown so far being a long drawn-out boss fight that looks like just mash-x with Cloud until it walks on the wall, then switch to Barret and mash-x with him, occasionally using materia along the way whenever it’s off cooldown. Granted it is the first boss, but it really didn’t capture the “WOW! this combat looks really fun!” reaction that you want from a first gameplay reveal.
Each character having a bunch of different abilities, mobility, and stuff like chaining abilities together for combos or even combining abilities with materia would make it fun. Lots of dashing around, dodging, and a variety of different attacks and mechanics for different characters is really what I expect out of a modern action game, not just mash a button until it’s dead.
In spite of the recent reveal that Tifa’s bust size was in fact altered/censored for this remake, I do like Tifa’s new design even if it is censored because of some silly “Ethics” Department based in, I guess you could call it, woke California. lol (Silly humans & their overuse of PC Culture that more often borders on regression rather than progression.)
I would play the original to see what the remake will possibly change, but I sadly just can’t get into the original game. Maybe if the HD remaster of FFVII was more like the 3DS remasters for Ocarina of Time & Majora’s Mask where they fixed up the models to look less jaggy & more smooth, I’d be able to get into it more. (I wish I had played the game back when it came out on the PlayStation before 3D models got better but that system really wasn’t on my radar in those days of my youth as I was focused on Nintendo.) Oh well.
Oh & hopefully FFVII’s gameplay isn’t like FFXV where you just held a button down & the character did all of the heavy lifting automatically.
