Nintendo’s Shuntaro Furukawa: “giving our teams the freedom to experiment with new ideas is something I strongly agree with”

It is not often that Nintendo‘s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, is interviewed. It is even rarer that Furukawa is interviewed by western media, but today has been an exception. You see, Furukawa was interviewed by TIME recently, where he talked about Nintendo as a whole. Furukawa also revealed a strategy to help make Nintendo more successful, saying that “Nintendo is Nintendo because of our games, characters and IP. So giving our teams the freedom to experiment with new ideas is something I strongly agree with. Expansion can’t happen without the freedom to try something new, and the courage to step into unfamiliar territory”.

  1. All good points, though you should also take into account when new stuff doesn’t work and the old stuff just works better.

Case in point Paper Mario. Sticker Star was crappy because all the “new” stuff was poorly done and Color Splash wasn’t much better. Doing new stuff is great but don’t discard the old either.

Also, Mario Kart Tour…..don’t do that again. No offense but what you guys did with that in nearly EA levels of greed, and you don’t want to share the same sentence as EA.
