The software portion of this month’s big NPD report is bigger than usual this month. For now, this is the sales charts for the time period of December 2019. You may notice that there are not as many chart categories as there normally is every monh. This is because those are part of the NPD’s annual report, and that coincides with this month’s report. As for the chart data, NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said that “half of December’s top 20 best-selling games were published by Nintendo. Luigi’s Mansion 3 finished as December’s fifth best-selling title overall, while ending 2019 as the fourth best-selling title of the year on Nintendo Switch“. Here’s the chart data:

Wow Luigi Mansion, Dark Moon and Luigi Mansion 3 best sellers in December. I love it!!!! So if the developers see this then wouldn’t it make sense to start Luigi’s Mansion 4 to keep making money?
2/3 of those are bestsellers *for the 3DS*, a dying platform. Without hard numbers attached to them, it is hard to derive real conclusions about how well they’re actually selling. Either way, I wouldn’t expect a Luigi’s Mansion 4 before the next platform. It’s just not how Nintendo does things. Some LM3 DLC could happen though.
