We have some sad news to share with you tonight. Rick May, known as the voice of Andross and Peppy Hare in Nintendo‘s Star Fox 64 and the Soldier in Valve’s Team Fortress 2, has passed away at the age of 79. May had suffered a stroke in February, and he was moved into a nursing home for rehabilitation. There, he unfortunately caught the COVID-19 coronavirus and was moved to a Swedish hospital, which is where he would be taken care of until he passed away. May was a teacher at Rekindle School, and it was their official site that announced his passing. Their site says that “if you would like to send condolences to his family, if you send them to rekindleschool@gmail.com, weβll pass them along”.

Well that sucks. Best Andross voice in my opinion. (Never played Star Fox Zero.) I wish he had reprised Andross in Adventures.
The voice of Andross in Zero wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t as menacing as May’s performance in 64. I think the writing was a little better though, in Zero. When you compare “You will die, just like your father” against “Opposing me is truly… A death sentence. Just ask your *father*, eh?”, the latter feels more personal and antagonistic, like a taunt.
God rest his soul.
“Do a Barrel roll!”
Fun fact, Google that phrase and watch your page respond.
I still love the meme he did back then and it will always remain one of the best memes forever.
π’π’π
I hate that virus
Rest In Peace Rick May. You will be our Peppy/Andross forever
He was the best Peppy and Andross that he could ever be and he will always be one of the best forever. Rest in peace Rick May. :-(
You were good, son, real good. Maybe even the best!
(He also did TF2’s Soldier)
Godspeed you magnificent bastard.
*salutes*
I wish this virus could be physically brutalized- it deserves such a punishment for this.
Rest easy, Mr. May- my next barrel roll is for you.
“In honor of our wingman who fell in battle.”
RIP Mr. May.
Prayers go out towards his family. Losing family is never easy, especially in times like this.
I can’t wait until the day I hear this “virus” passed away. It’s taking SO many people. TOO many people. I want life to go back to normal again. Even though my life wasn’t so great when it was normal either. But at least there wasn’t an invisible enemy going around killing people. R.I.P. Rick May.

Happy travels heaven wards for the big guy.

He also voiced Soldier from TF2 as well…
I will miss him greatly
RIP Rick May

He was 79 and had a stroke, so calm down guys! He would have died within the next 5 years anyway. This was not a tragic death by any means.
@ bootyranger,
Death is always tragic. Whether it’s expected or sudden.
