Investment advisor David Gibson was present during the Nintendo investors Q & A session and reports that the company informed investors that the Nintendo Switch platform is barely in the middle of its life cycle. This indicates that there won’t be a successor to the Switch until around 2023, though plans do change.. Nintendo previously announced that they won’t be launching a revised Nintendo Switch console this year.
Still seems young to me. Look how long the 3DS lasted.

It’s early in relation to the fact Nintendo said it was sooo.

I expect it to be around for many more years before the successor arrives but they’ll be more versions of it

Nintendo could release a new console and keep the Switch as their 3DS successor, it’s certainly powerful enough to last a long time.

And we still have a Metroid Prime coming. Also BOTW2, new Pikmin, new Paper Mario. Probably Odyessey 2. Definately an ultra sword and shield Pokemon. And whatever other games they want to do… Probably at least another Kirby game. MAYBE a new Mario Kart or spiritual successor.
Oh, and more Switch versions no doubt. Lite was just the start of it.

It’s interesting, Nintendo have actually set themselves up to where the timing of the Switch’s release along with the Lite have definitely extended the life cycle of the console.
I can see it being around for a gooood while. Nintendo has solidified itself as a stand alone company, which in itself is crazy.

Hows that crazy? when was Nintendo not stand alone?

Because Nintendo came up enough through the “console wars” and managed to survive although the competition had an upper hand. Coming from needing to rival the competition to simply just being good enough because it’s Nintendo. The major jump in 3rs party support. The attitude and general new direction of the company, it’s all very crazy imo.
Up until maybe a year ago I haven’t been too overly impressed with Nintendo. And while ultimately its not the direction I would have wanted them to take, they got my money and I’m enjoying my switch everyday.

Halfway huh? Well, it feels like Nintendo Switch came out last month to me but i never expected Nintendo to announced this sooner and later. there are other features that has not been added to the Switch yet that we want.

Why should we listen to this guy?
I honestly donβt see the Switch successor coming out before 2024.
Why? Because next year we will probably see the Switch Pro which will extend the Switch era by at least 2 to 3 years.
