Square Enix has recently filed for a new trademark for the beloved JRPG The World Ends with You in Japan. The established video game company filed for the trademark on Monday, 1st June and it has gone public today Monday, 15th June. The trademark is for the title of the series in Japanese, Subarashiki Kono Sekai.
This is a weird one for me cause TWEWY is one of my favorite video games of all time but, the gameplay would have to be completely overhauled for anything other than a small handheld like a smartphone or DS for it to feel good.(the switch port if fine just clunky). As long it maintains its astetic in music, environment , art, and tone im down for a sequel.
No please! Twewy is fine and all, but they should save the next Square-Enix slot for Sora and/or Geno. The smash community is toxic enough as it is.
Geno i could take or leave, but id 100% rather have Neku over Sora no question. It doesn’t matter who they put it cause the smash community is gonna bitch and moan any way, but this is all moot as a trademark would have nothing to do with the character getting into smash.
Could this be for kingdom hearts?

Really hoping they make that sequel since Final Remix hinted towards one.
At this point I don’t put too much stock into trademarks. A lot of times companies just file new trademarks just to maintain their power over their content.
