Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm coming to Nintendo Switch this fall

Cornfox & Brothers have confirmed this morning that Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm will be heading to the Nintendo Switch platform this fall. The game was previously exclusive to Apple Arcade and the timed exclusivity window has finally ended. You can check out the newly released trailer for the Switch version of Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm down below.

“Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm is a game made by Nintendo fans, for Nintendo fans. We’ve been able to create something new from the strong background that we established with our previous game, Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas, and Oceanhorn 2 is our love letter to the games that we grew up with, combining that beloved nostalgia with exciting new mechanics to give it an original spin.”

  1. Yes! The first true LOZ since Skyward Sword/OOT/MM/WW/TP!

And is that how these exclusives work? I guess no one told the creator of FEZ?

      1. Ummm. I KNOW what Oceanhorn is. I beat the first game a few years ago.

But this game is far more LOZ than BotW (and its sequel) is.

    1. I think the fact that you’re saying that this game is “far more LOZ” than BotW2 — a game that hasn’t even come out yet — is at least somewhat indicative of the idea that you should, perhaps, reflect on those thoughts?

As is the fact that you call it “the first true LOZ” since five games over the span of 13 years.

Games aren’t “more” or “less” of something because they don’t fit within your personal understanding of a series’ conventions. Heck, there’s a good argument to be made that Breath of the Wild is one of the “truest” entries in the series, as far as the original Legend of Zelda is concerned.

      1. You’re just mad because I don’t like BotW for straying far away from past 3D Zelda games, such as Skyward Sword. I just don’t like the idea of every weapon in my inventory breaking/becoming useless in the middle of a battle (with no means of defense), being killed by random weather conditions, or one-shoted by Yiga/Lynel/Hinox/Guardians/etc. This gets compared to DarkSouls for a reason.

Either way, Oceanhorn 2 I’m sure is a good game (since it’s already been released on other platforms), and when it comes out, fun will be had. If you enjoyed Skyward Sword or the critically acclaimed OOT, you will enjoy this game, since its closer to those.

      2. Also, how is it the “truest”, when the game flat out expects you to forget everything you ever knew about the franchise after 20 years of LOZ games.

It may be a different game, it may be a good game (to those who like it), but it’s not “true” compared to the majority of past LOZ titles (or else these past 20+ years have been a complete lie up until BotW released).

  2. Thank goodness, this was the only thing that was sorta pushing me towards Apple Arcade. Now I don’t need to further sell my soul to Apple.
