Zelda movie director says he’ll “go to the ends of the earth” to ensure film is good

You may recall that, last fall, Nintendo had officially announced that there was a Zelda live-action movie in the works. Since then, the film’s director, Wes Ball, has been participating in interviews every now and then. The latest example of this comes from The Direct, who recently did an exclusive interview with him. In the interview, they discussed the film.

IBall said that “I think it’s gonna be great. Fans are gonna be happy. Legend of Zelda, to me, is one of the most important things ever in my life. You know, next to Star Wars. I’ve played Legend of Zelda throughout my childhood into my adulthood. You know what I mean? I am a fan. I am a fellow fan. I will go to the ends of the earth to make sure that it is the movie we all hope it will be”.

  1. I really hope it’ll be good!! I’m cautiously optimistic hehe. But the Mario Movie exceeded my expectations, so with Miyamoto involved I at least have faith they’ll get the aesthetic and feeling down :)

My only fear is with the casting sdfggfgg, I feel like for Link especially, they cannot go with celebrity casting like the Mario movie… if they do, I super pray they pick someone for talent that looks like him rather than for a big name on the poster…

Also I’m really curious which Zelda story they’ll draw the most from. Something traditionally Zelda like the NES original would be great, but I would personally love something like Ocarina of Time— though if one day they did that as a two-parter film, I think it’d be amazing. Imagine a creepy Majora’s Mask movie!! :D

Twilight Princess would probably be easy to draw from, but Breath of the Wild would have the biggest market appeal, too….

My prediction is they’ll probably take inspiration from across the series, with a little extra Botw sprinkled in hehe :)

This movie really gets me thinking! I could definitely see this becoming a long-term film franchise like what they’re probably planning for Mario. And if it’s good, I’d totally be down for that!! :D

It may be selfish, but I’d like to see Danny Devito as life action tingle… 🙇‍♀️

  2. ‘Zelda movie director says he’ll “go to the ends of the earth” to ensure film is GOOD’

Only “good”? Wow! He’s set the bar so high. 🙄

    1. You must be fun at parties. I’m sure he wants to do his best, he just said it like that because he did. No need to be so literal about everything dude.

  3. I hope we shouldn’t take it at face value, knowing that they’re going to travel all over the place to film… Joking aside, I don’t feel serene at the idea of “live action”, I would have preferred it to be like Mario

  4. No matter how good the movie is, I’m sure Gamefaqs and every other public forum will have a list of pros and cons pointing out everything wrong with the movie kinda like when new games release. Every critic will write strongly worded reviews and post incoherent rants on Youtube.

  5. He’ll go to the end of the Earth he says. Just don’t fall off the Earth, I’d hate for my round Earth beliefs to be proven wrong.

    1. I hope the Earth is like the Chrono Trigger map, so every time we reach the border, we end up on the opposite side, so no one falls. :P

  6. Everybody wants to do a good job. I don’t think anyone ever signed up for something thinking, “you know what? Im gonna make sure I really bash the cervix on this one”
