Amazon US: Super Mario 3D All-Stars is already second best-selling game of 2020

Amazon charts may not be the be all and end all of video games sales, but they are a good indictor of the popularity of upcoming video games. The recently announced Super Mario 3D All-Stars is currently ranked as the second best-selling physical game of 2020 on Amazon US, just after Animal Crossing: New Horizons which is the best-selling game of 2020 so far at the online retailer. The package contains Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy and is due out on Friday, 18th September.

      1. The logic behind this is that nintendo is making this game a limited release and rare on purpose so people will be like “I don’t wanna miss out on this, I will buy it asap”. Which is somewhat understandable.

And also, the fact that it’s just a port of the games and not much else, like I get it some optimization is fine like widescreen support or gamecube controller support etc. But some people are expecting a hd remaster with 120 fps, ultra mega donga resolution with VR support plus Luigi multiplayer and DS levels with at least 150 new levels each with 400 stars plus an extra side story featuring Dante from the DMC series.

      2. @ultra instinct

None of those makes anything about this “shady” though. That Nintendo could in theory offer more value for the money does not in anyway make the business practice shady, unethical, or anything of the kind. They’ve made an upfront, face up offer for a particular product. Nothing is hidden or secret. You can evaluate whether or not it is worth your money. If you don’t think its worth the money, don’t buy it.

Rather than exposing Nintendo’s greed, this is exposing the greed of a certain class of gamer who feels, based upon nothing, that it is immoral not to give them precisely what they want for the price that they want, determined entirely by their subjective feelings.

      3. You cant reply to replies? Damm

And nah I never agreed with this Im just posted what I see people complaining about. The only one I kinda see valid is the gamecube controller support and maybe a 16:9 screen. And these are very minor complains on my part.

    1. Yea Im part of the if you can’t beat em join em wagon lol loves these games just hate the Nintendo no effort polish and greedy decisions made by them. But w.e I’ll have fun with the games either way it’s not that important to me lol

    1. ^ this. So no need to panic. I imagine it’ll be like the All Stars on Wii for the 25th anniversary. Easy to find for those months, but then its gone.

      1. I’m excited. I preordered my copy. It’s cleaned up a little. I’m fine with it. Now my family and I can play these classics on a current gen system.

  1. I don’t really care the games aren’t hugely improved. I love 64 and Sunshine, but the controls on Galaxy made me uninterested in it, but the remake has optional motion controls so maybe I’ll actually enjoy it this time around. I’d much rather them port games quickly with some small but impactful changes like these and move on to making actually new games.

I’m a lot less interested in HD Remasters of old games than I am with ports of multiplayer games as a bunch of old mp games would be great to play online like the gamecube Mario Parties, Kirby Amazing Mirror & Airride, maybe a translation of the old Animal Crossing E+ that only released in Japan as well as an ordinary City Folk port, etc etc.
