  1. After having some time with bundle I decided to give my short opinons on each game (control wise)
64- pretty good but the controls can be a bother sometimes. (I found it weird that mario would move in the opposite direction that I wanted him to go sometimes)

Sunshine- where do I even begin, sunshine controls are a horrible mess, Sunshine has to be the first game I ever played that’ll punish you for knowing a games mechanic, the first two shine sprites were a breeze to get but the other three are terrible (took 30 mins to get each star) mario controls so bad and he’s either a hit or miss when it comes to platforming, 64 controls a lot better than this.

Galaxy- I didn’t have any issues with mario this is probably one of the most smoothest 3d games were mario controls feel good, up there with land/world and odyssesy with best control schemes, now I see why people wanted 2 in this bundle.

The bundle imo is alright but I feel like we should have got a patch that fix some of the issues that were in the orginals, galaxy is the only game where I didn’t have any issues.

    1. I don’t think Sunshine controls quite as badly as you say, but there are definitely issues there. Super frustrating that it feels like every level wants you to climb up some extremely vertical object, and just when you’re nearly at the top, you fall all the way down, usually due to controls/camera, and you have to do it all over again. There’s a couple of levels where this sort of thing happened about 3 or 4 times to me. Sunshine does have some of the most fun movement in any Mario game, if you dive/jump around you can get around really quickly and it feels great once you’re used to it. But trying to do anything finicky and yeah, super-frustrating for sure.

What you were referring to in 64 is because Mario has a really large “turning circle” in that game. That’s something that thankfully they removed from Sunshine onwards.

And yeah, Galaxy controls like a dream, and honestly that whole game just feels like a dream, particularly running at 60 fps vs the others running at 30 fps, it makes all the difference. Galaxy 2 is a huge miss from the package.

I would have loved them to fix some of this stuff for 3D All-Stars – problem is people who know these games inside out would have complained because the controls that are ingrained into them have changed.

      1. Dive mechanic is the only thing that feels good about sunshine, camera angle hasn’t been an issue to me, but mario movements in-game makes it so fustrating to go from point a to point b and than start all the way back from point a it’s stupid and at this point seems like bad game design, the only people who have been defending the controls are people who use to sunshine controls and it sucks that they are straight up bullying people who are new to the game saying “git gud” and etc, despite sunshine feeling like a rush gamecube game.

  2. Playing 64 right now and the only trouble I’m having is having to fight the joy con drift on both sides than actually fighting the camera. That annoying sound when the camera can’t move gets triggered automatically by the drift. Otherwise 64 is pretty good, I only ever played the DS remake, never this one.

I did download the WII U VC version of 64 but the graphics did not age well, so I never played it then, either.

  3. I’ve just started sunshine after getting 120 stars in 64 and having a great time. I can understand some people who have never played these before having trouble as there are some control quirks to them and each feels slightly different but I am having no issues and they feel perfect to me.
