US: Nintendo Switch best-selling console for 24th consecutive month, outperforms PS5/Xbox Series X in November

According to the market research group NPD Group in the US, the Nintendo Switch outperformed both the Playstation 5 and the Xbox Series X in the month of November. It also marked the 24th consecutive month that Nintendo Switch has been the best-selling console in the United States. Last month, Nintendo shifted a staggering 1.35 million consoles but it’s worth noting that the next generation of consoles both suffered supply shortages; there was just simply a gargantuan demand for the hardware with many pre-orders being whisked up way ahead of launch day for both.

Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s senior VP of sales and marketing said in a statement: “We continue to see unprecedented demand for the Nintendo Switch, and we are pleased that people of all ages and gaming skill levels will be experiencing Nintendo Switch this holiday and beyond,”.

With Sony and Microsoft both seeing tremendous success with the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S respectively, the race is on to satisfy demand with more stock and to get consoles to waiting fans. NPD will be releasing more detailed numbers for these consoles this Friday.

  1. Really thought the new consoles would have halted this run but amazingly not. I think Sony/Microsoft should’ve just delayed the launches until they had a good amount of stock ready as it defeats the point of releasing at this time of year if you haven’t got enough. Not that it bothers me. When the new Switch launches next year it’s going to continue this momentum.

    1. What new Switch. There is no new Switch. Maybe an updated design called New Switch, like New 3DS, but there won’t be a Switch 2 next year.
