The Japanese government’s Official Gazette has reported this morning that The Pokemon Company recorded record profits last year. The company’s total sales reached a staggering 120 billion Yen during the fiscal year which ended on 28th February, 2021. Dr. Serkan Toto believes that this fiscal year, which started on March 2021, will surpass the record breaking profits. He rightly points out that this will include New Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl and the intriguing, Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Here’s the company’s financial performance during the last fiscal year:
- Sales: 120 billion yen (US$1.1 billion)
- Operating profit: 27.8 billion yen (US$254 million)
- Net profit: 18.6 billion yen (US$170 million)

No. Nintendo own 32% of the Pokémon Brand. The Pokemon Company is there own company.
Pokemon Company is their own company whose stock is held by three companies. Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures. Nintendo is only there to publish the games worldwide. Game Freak makes the main games, but they are held back since the founders never wanted to become a large company and kept the studios as small as they needed to be. They are still technically an Indie Company. Creatures handles the cards, anime, in the past the spin offs and now a days they handle most of the Animation work for the series in general. Creatures Inc. is the successor to Ape Inc., which is the studio Itoi made to create the Mother/Earthbound series.
Isle of armor taught me to stop pre ordering pokemon games. Kinda wish I had sword instead of shield. I wish Chinese Riddler didn’t have his mouth taped shut.
And this is why Pokemon will never change. They see good sells, they know they are doing a good job.
But they are changing =b This is the first remake Game Freak isn’t handling themselves and GF’s game is a complete departure from their previous works. As much as money speaks, they do also want to make their fans happy as that’s the whole reason they started making games instead of staying as a Magazine.
The Arceus game could be new but the remake is looking to be a 1:1 remake. They can’t even be bothered to add to it like FireRed/LeafGreen or the GS remakes. It also doesn’t even look that great… The most comparable game I can think of is Link’s Awakening remake.
At the end of the day, I can only speak for myself. Diamond and Pearl is when I lost interest in Pokemon and a 1:1 remake isn’t appealing. And my hopes are not high for Arceus after seeing how subpar Sword and Shield was.
I’d love if they out some more effort into the series but.. no point if it’s a huge commercial success doing the bare minimum.
Damn you James Turner. We wanted Klara but we’re stuck with stupid ass Avery. I hate Avery just as much as Arvo from the walking dead game. Avro shot Clementine and Avery is not a hot girl.
