Splatoon 3 will only support offline cloud saves

The official Splatoon 3 game page on the Nintendo Store website has revealed that the highly-anticipated third entry will only support cloud saves for its offline content i.e the single player content. This is a step up from the previous entry as Splatoon 2 which didn’t feature cloud save support at all. Still, it’s not completely ideal as saves are tied to console rather than servers. Cloud saves are only available for those of you who have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Splatoon 3 will be released on 9th September.

About Splatoon 3:

“Enter the Splatlands, a sun-scorched desert inhabited by battle-hardened Inklings and Octolings. Splatsville, the city of chaos, is the adrenaline-fueled heart of this dusty wasteland.

Even in this desolate environment, Turf War* reigns supreme and battles rage in new stages located in the surrounding wilds. Dynamic new moves help these fighters dodge attacks and cover more ground, along with a new bow-shaped weapon to sling ink.

Join Agent 3 in a fight against the unruly Octarians in story mode. Discover the secrets of Alterna, the Fuzzy Ooze, and how they connect to the mode’s theme, “Return of the Mammalians.”

Team up and fend off waves of dangerous Salmonid bosses in the next iteration of Salmon Run*, a co-op mode with fresh new features. ”

    1. Technogy has been at that point for several years+. Nintendo is now the only platform that doesn’t do this. They’re just not investing the time/money in it. It’s an enormous shame

No, not “Offline Cloud” per se, it means you can only upload offline content like the single player content to the online cloud.

    1. It means that only the single player content can be uploaded to the cloud. Your online content, such as rank and level for online matches, cannot be uploaded to the cloud.

This is not difficult to understand at all.

    2. bruh… it means only offline/single player content will be uploaded to the cloud, it makes perfect sense

  1. Honestly, depending on what counts as “Offline” this could be a good step in the right direction.
Yeah, I get that single player content can be backed up but technically any weapons and items like Super-Sea Snails you get are offline after you’ve obtained them so MAYBE those can be backed up too.
I really hope that’s the case because weapons, right now, are 1 of the biggest issues for not being able to be backed up as they take even more effort than simply levelling up.
Of course, we surprisingly don’t even know exactly how this game is gonna be structured so maybe they are re-working the game to allow for cloud saves for regular progress and the only thing that can’t be stored is your ranking.

  2. Honestly their saying your single player stats will not only be uploaded to the cloud but also saved on your system if you want so you can play offline. Anything you do offline will not effect your online stuff and will not carry over. This is being done so people cannot abuse the game and mod it while offline to get whatever when they go online.

That’s what I’m taking from all of this.
