Chris Pratt says his Mario voice in Super Mario movie is “unlike anything you’ve heard in the Mario world before”

Chris Pratt in upcoming Super Mario movie

The Super Mario movie is heading our way next year and all eyes are on the debut trailer or any snippet of information we can get about the project. We have not really heard a whole lot about the project by Nintendo and animation studio Illumination other than the announcements by some of the voice actors which include Chris Pratt as the famous Italian plumber. Pratt was interview by entertainment site Variety during which he spoke about his voice acting work as Mario and once again he reiterated that it’s “something that I’m really proud of and can’t wait for people to see and hear.” Pratt said his voice work will be “unlike anything you’ve heard in the Mario world before.” which is an interesting comment. The Super Mario movie launches in theatres worldwide next spring.

“I worked really closely with the directors and trying out a few things and landed on something that I’m really proud of and can’t wait for people to see and hear,” Pratt said. “It’s an animated voiceover narrative. It’s not a live-action movie. I’m not gonna be wearing a plumber suit running all over. I’m providing a voice for an animated character, and it is updated and unlike anything you’ve heard in the Mario world before.”

  1. ” It’s not a live-action movie. I’m not gonna be wearing a plumber suit running all over. ”

Okay? I think that info was already known coming from an “animation” studio.

  2. I don’t really remember the original Mario animations, so the only voice for Mario I know is Martinet’s, and I don’t think that voice would make a very good voice for movie.
Not saying Martinet couldn’t pull it off, but let’s see how Pratt handles it.

  3. Unlike anything in the Mario world, but sounds exactly like something you’ve heard in the Lego world, or the Marvel world, or the Jurassic Park world or the….

  4. “Unlike anything before” is a tend that needs to die.

An over used trope, when sometimes what people would prefer is what they expect and want. Stop toying with expectations and deliving things people did not want in the first place.

  5. I hear this message as it won’t be a cartoony Italian voice. Being open minded here, it sounds like good news but could be a nonsense quote. We’ll see.
