Nintendo has revealed sales figures for Splatoon 3 in the land of the rising sun this morning and the fantastic game has now shifted over 3.45 million units in Japan alone since the game went on sale on Friday. This figure counts both physical and digital sales. The Kyoto-based company says that Splatoon 3 has become the fastest selling game on the Nintendo Switch family of systems. We have already heard that the series has scored its first ever No.1 with Splatoon 3 in the United Kingdom.
“Nintendo Co., Ltd. (HQ: Kyoto, Minami-ku, Japan; Representative Director and President: Shuntaro Furukawa) announced that domestic sales of the Splatoon 3 game for the Nintendo Switch system have surpassed 3.45 million units in the first three days since its launch on September 9, 2022. This is the highest domestic sales level for any Nintendo Switch software within the first three days.”
Fantastic news for the series. Hopefully sales in the West are positive too (though they won’t be this good!). But we know Nintendo values its home market and sales of this magnitude are extremely good for the future of Splatoon.
I suspect we will get press releases later today from Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of America if the game has sold immensely well :)
