SEGA: If you own Digital Deluxe Sonic Frontiers download DLC before starting

sonic in upcoming Sonic Frontiers

SEGA has warned fans who have purchased the Digital Deluxe version of Sonic Frontiers that they need to make sure that they have download the DLC before starting the game. If you start Sonic Frontiers and don’t download the DLC until after the tutorial section, then the company says that the DLC content will not be valid, which isn’t great for anyone who has purchased that version. However, the company says that future items, including the Sonic Adventure 2 shoes and Monster Hunter DLC, can be installed at any time. Sonic Frontiers is available now at retail and on the Nintendo eShop.

  1. …How does a multi-billion dollar company like Sega manage to screw up something as simple as DLC?

I don’t want to start another war in the comment section or anything, but almost everything about this games launch seems to have been a disaster so far. Are people really still wanting to purchase this?

    1. It does seem to be a stupid oversight on SEGA’s part. Hopefully they find someway for those who have purchased the Digital Deluxe edition and didn’t download the DLC beforehand to get it in the near future,.

    2. Tbf Sonic Team had to fight really hard just to get an extra year of development. SEGA executives are unreasonable dipshits throughout their history so who knows how far in development they wanted them to make the DLC?

    3. “Are people really still wanting to purchase this?”

Takes like this leave me scratching my head. I didn’t even know there was digital deluxe DLC, much less care enough to not buy the game over it.

      1. Okay? Your personal lack of knowledge about the DLC doesn’t make Sega’s failures of something so simple any less terrible. There is no excuse for a company as big as Sega to screw up something so easy, other than pure carelessness.
It doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in their game-crafting abilities regardless.

And that wasn’t the only thing I was referring to either. Their scummy practices of not sending out review copies for the terrible Switch version, the graphical and load-in issues on present on almost every platform, combined with the fact that it’s been receiving very mediocre reviews overall (considering how highly Sega have been hyping it up).
Nothing I’ve seen from the game’s launch has convinced me to give it a try, certainly not paying full price for it.

Honestly takes like yours are the only confusing thing here, can you REALLY not see how badly Sega have bottled this game’s launch? A super important game that was meant to be a “new beginning” for their franchise?

        1. Three days too late… but I still don’t get it.

Yes. I really cannot see how badly they’ve botched this. I’d be lying if I said I wanted this on Switch rather than PC after Digital Foundry’s examination, but I see a game that’s getting decent to good reviews out of the gate.

  2. Had Sony done the same thing people would forgive them for it. It’s something that they didn’t catch and yes these people are humans, they aren’t going to catch every single thing, they are allowed to miss a couple oversights cuz they aren’t machines.

  3. I’m sure they can resolve the issue somehow like with an update. Besides most digital deluxe dlc is automatically downloades with the game. It’s not like stand alone dlc that downloads separately.

Most digital deluxe dlc is automatically downloaded with the game anyhow.

  4. I bought the digital deluxe so I should get the art oil and music track but I don’t have it I play on switch I’m so confused why it won’t work plz help
