Rumor: Super Mario Bros movie is apparently 85 minutes long

Art for Super Mario Bros Movie from Nintendo

It has been nearly 2 months since Nintendo decided to end its silence on info for the animated Super Mario Bros. movie. Since then, things have gotten quiet again for the time being, but there has been an interesting rumor that has appeared this week.

A theater chain called Cinepolis has a listing for the Mario movie on their website. The listing mentions that the movie is 85 minutes long, which is about an hour and a half in length. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is slated to premiere in theaters on April 7th, 2023.

  1. An hour and 25 minutes, couldn’t even add 5 minutes so it would be one in a half hours. Typical, couldn’t even make it 2 mours like most movies. Why release in theaters heck WWE Monday night raw is 2 hours and it’s on basic cable and it’s the longest running weekly episodic show ever.

In the 90s and 2000s, most animated movies were around 85 minutes long, and that was fine. They’ve been getting longer and longer in recent years, but longer doesn’t always mean better. I agree with CosmicTornado that a lot of movies don’t need to be as long as they are. I’d take an 85 minute movie packed to the gills with awesomeness than a 125 minute movie that’s bloated and full of uninteresting filler.

  3. Obviously because it’s a kids movie, and parents don’t want to be sitting too long with their little ones, and neither do the little ones.

  4. I didn’t say make it 3 or 4 hours like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. 85 minutes, come on I go to the bathroom and it takes that long.

  5. I mean, between 80-90 minutes is pretty on-par for animated movie length. Sometimes they get longer (I believe Spider-Verse clocked in at over two hours) but it’s not frequent.
