It looks like IGN published their article on LEGO 2K Drive before the official unveil is meant to happen tomorrow. Anyway, the important information is that the open world racing game LEGO 2K Drive will be heading to the Nintendo Switch and the release date will be Friday, 19th May. LEGO 2K Drive features different biomes to race around, sort of like the classic Diddy Kong Racing on the Nintendo 64, and features single player modes and online multiplayer modes and will include an actual story mode, again like Diddy Kong Racing. LEGO 2K Drive will also have a co-op mode which sounds fun and classic split screen multiplayer. Players can create any vehicle they like with over 1,000 unique LEGO pieces available for use.
The three different versions you can purchase at launch:
- Standard Edition ($69.99 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, $59.99 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC)
- Awesome Edition ($99.99) – Includes a new vehicle, vehicle flair, in-game minifigure, and the Year 1 Drive Pass
- Awesome Rivals Edition ($119.99) – Includes multiple vehicles, a vehicle flair, multiple in-game minifigures, and the Year 1 Drive Pass.
The Drive Pass:
“The Year 1 Drive Pass, essentially a Season Pass, will introduce an all-new biome plus four individual post-launch seasons of Drive Pass content, each with new vehicles and themes. While it’s packaged in the two more expensive editions of LEGO 2K Drive, it’s also available to purchase separately.”
Im definitely interested in this despite the 2k part, i love Lego games and have high hopes for Lego 2k Drive. I love the concept of creating a Lego vehicle with over a thousand lego pieces.
“Drive pass?” Does that mean dlc or like a subscription either way I feel like a live service is gonna be slap on this.
Here’s what the cached version of IGN says :
“The Year 1 Drive Pass, essentially a Season Pass, will introduce an all-new biome plus four individual post-launch seasons of Drive Pass content, each with new vehicles and themes. While it’s packaged in the two more expensive editions of LEGO 2K Drive, it’s also available to purchase separately.”
