Arc System Works have sadly announced on their official DNF Duel product page that the forthcoming Nintendo Switch version of the intense fighter will not use rollback netcode. It is not clear why they decided against using it. Instead the game will support the inferior delay-based netcode, which is a shame. The Nintendo Switch version of DNF Duel will be released worldwide on 20th April.
- What kind of netcode does each platform have?PC and PS 4/5 versions support rollback netcode. Nintendo Switch version supports delay-based netcode.

At this point, arc system just have some weird bias towards Nintendo. There’s two fighting games with rollback on the switch, skullgirls and power rangers battle for the grid, which as far as i know, are pretty good, in fact, a lot of the classic virtual console library has rollback netcode for online play, so there’s no excuse, they just don’t wanna invest on it for some weird reason, which is dumb because the switch is the highest selling console right now, why would you not want people to buy your game by omitting an important feature like rollback?
That’s a deal breaker, same with P4 Arena. At this point i should just give up on buying any arc system port on the Switch
Why not? It’s not like the Switch can’t handle rollback.
Well, I can only theorize, but rollback netcode requires re-simulating multiple frames of game logic whenever new input data is received, and maybe they didn’t manage to get that running at stable 60 FPS on Switch.
Still sounds really weird, though, since it basically means they went out of their way to code a custom network implementation for Switch, which still sounds like more work than just optimizing for performance.
