European Commission told Nintendo to change its policy regarding Joy-Con repairs

Earlier this week completely out of the blue Nintendo quietly announced it had changed its long-standing policy regarding Joy-Con repairs. Now anyone who has experienced the infamous Joy-Con drift, or other issues, can now send them in to get them repaired for free by Nintendo. However, it seems Nintendo’s hand was forced on the matter by the European Commission which published a message to its followers on linkedin, stating that they had contacted Nintendo “to address the recurring technical problem with defective Switch controllers.” They continued by saying that “Nintendo has agreed to offer all consumers the right to repair, free of charge, even beyond the legal guarantee.” Well done to the European Commission!

“Let’s-a go!  We’ve got news that’s even better than finding a hidden 1-up mushroom. 🍄    We’ve recently contacted Nintendo to address the recurring technical problem with defective Switch controllers, and we’re happy to report that they’ve agreed to offer all consumers the right to repair, free of charge, even beyond the legal guarantee!    This will prevent the disposal of unrepaired controllers and unnecessary waste.    So don’t wait, jump into action and get your controllers repaired for free. 🎮 “

  1. I’m planning to send my grey ones in next month because its the only color that started the drift in the first place. The rest of my 2 each joy-cons are drift free for now.
