You may recall that, earlier this week, it had been confirmed that The Super Mario Bros. Movie had grossed over $900,000,000 worldwide. That same day, it was also beginning to look very likely that the movie would be able to surpass $1,000,000,000 by the end of this weekend.
Well, Nintendo and Illumination’s film hasn’t officially reached that milestone yet, but it isn’t going to stay that way for much longer. In fact, based on projected gross totals for the weekend so far, it is being reported that the movie will reach the billion mark sometime tomorrow, on Sunday. Once it does, it will be the 10th animated film to do so. It will also be the first movie of the year to reach that milestone.
Just another mehh movie by illumination. It strickly sold on the name only. If it was any other characters it would have been considered a 5 or 6.
I mean yes…the fact it’s a Mario film is the whole point, so it makes no sense to consider it any other way. If it were about some nobody character it would have no reason to exist.

Very impressive milestone and accomplishment, ignore the haters claiming it’s only doing good because of the name associated with the movie.

Honestly, I’m not that surprised; given the current state of movies as a whole right now, the super Mario movie was one of those rare gems to me 🤩
