Takashi Iizuka talks about possibility of older Sonic Team franchises coming back

Sonic Team head, Takashi Iizuka, participated in a number of interviews following Summer Game Fest as Sonic Superstars made its debut at the show. The intriguing new Sonic title is seemingly a project developed by Arzest, but Sonic Team Japan is helping out too. Speaking to VGC, Iizuka was asked whether they have any plans to bring any of Sonic Team’s classic franchises back such as Nights into Dreams or Burning Rangers, etc. He informed the site that he is the creative officer for the Sonic brand, however, Sonic Team Japan has been on a hiring spree as of late and have more people than ever before, so he said that there’s a possibility we could hear something about a classic Sonic Team franchise being resurrected.

Sonic Team’s other franchises coming back to life, such as Nights: Into Dreams or Burning Rangers?

I can’t say yes to anything right now. These days I’m the creative officer for Sonic the Hedgehog, so I’m totally focused on that side of the business. So I can’t really speak for anyone else, but Sonic Team in Japan has been ramping up and hiring lots of people recently – they have more people than ever. So there may be some future where you’ll be hearing about these kinds of titles.
