Persona leaker says there is a Persona themed fighting game in the works

The leaker who first revealed that Atlus was working on a Persona 3 remake has said on Twitter that the Japanese company is working on a new Persona-themed fighting game. The project has changed quite a bit since its inception and that it is basically unrecognisable from its early development days. The leaker goes on to say that his English isn’t so good, but suggests that higher-ups in the company were initially worried about the direction of the game.

    1. That was a port of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, which originally released in 2013.
The tweet in question refers to a brand-new Persona 5 fighting game that’s been rumoured for years now.

  1. Am I the only one who kinda wants to see a Persona racing game? That’s a genre the series hasn’t tried yet.

Each character’s Persona could give them a trait or mechanic unique to them (Arsene would give Joker immunity from having his steering reversed, Goemon points out enemy attacks from much further away for Yusuke, Johanna leaves a trail of energy that harms opponents, thus making it a bad idea to tailgate Makoto, etc.) and then Shadows grant the power-ups (Jack Frost- obviously- freezes racers, Baphomet counts down to an explosion attack, Pixie grants a short speed boost, etc.), and the flowers picked up in Mementos in P5R acting like a defensive item (the more you have, the shorter your recovery from attacks will be, but you lose some every time you get hit).

    I’d try a Persona 5 racer.
