IGN has recently chatted with John Shepherd, VP, Executive Producer at Electronic Arts, about the company’s next instalment of the incredibly popular FIFA franchise on Nintendo Switch. The name has been changed to EA Sports FC 24 after EA refused to pay the ridiculously high price for the FIFA brand name and they have put more effort into this year’s edition for the Nintendo Switch. Shepard told IGN that feature-wise, EA FC 24 for Nintendo Switch will be comparable to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game and also said it really runs great on the Switch hardware. You may remember that the previous FIFA games on Switch were based on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of FIFA . That has all changed now they have finally got the impressive Frostbite engine up and running on Switch.
FC 24, however, is “comparable” to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game in terms of common features, John Shepherd, VP, Executive Producer at Electronic Arts, told IGN.
“It’s going to have all the modes. It’s more representative of the Xbox One, PS4 gameplay, than it would be the PlayStation 5, latest-gen gameplay. There are a few differences, just because of the hardware, but the game’s running great.”
“That’s been multiple years, just trying to get that working really nicely on Switch,” Shepherd said. “We were reviewing it with Nintendo not too long ago. Everyone’s really excited about it.

Is it April Fool’s Day? 🤣🤣🤣 It’s EA. It’s trash. 🗑️
It’s so weird that EA have made the decision to do this now. 5 years on from the last full new release of a FIFA on the Switch, and in what are presumably the final years (maybe the final year) of the Switch’s lifecycle. People who really want to play these games have long realised they’ll need to do it on another platform. This game is destined to not sell all that well. And when it doesn’t, EA will use it as justification that their games don’t sell well on Nintendo consoles, rather than noting all the ways in which they have doomed this game to failure on Switch.
It reminds me of when they launched Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U and then were shocked that the game didn’t sell to their expectations and took it as a sign that Nintendo gamers didn’t want Mass Effect or other EA games…and didn’t consider that maybe releasing the conclusion of a trilogy on that Nintendo gamers won’t have played the first two parts of wasn’t the smartest move.
It’s fair to say that Nintendo consoles are a tough environment for third party publishers – mostly because they have to compete against Nintendo games many of which are simply a cut above the rubbish they’re putting out. But where the likes of Capcom, Ubisoft, and Activision-Blizzard have all found varying degrees of success on Nintendo platforms, EA are just uniquely bad at it. Even some of the better games they’ve put on the Switch have been hamstrung by stupid decisions e.g. launching Burnout Paradise at nearly full price. And the series they own that I contend has the most potential on Switch, The Sims, is completely absent.
TL:DR – EA are terrible
And lets not forget the fact that at the same time as they we’re releasing Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U they were releasing Mass Effect Trilogy on the other platforms, they had no one to blame but themselves.
That’s the main reason. Either pay 60 for ME3 or 60 for the trilogy. EA are ANYTHING but stupid; they did that shit on purpose.
I just hope that they don’t enable that idiotic feature of letting my crying opponents to skip my goal’s replay..
It’s another game where you play as Men running up and down a grassy field in shorts to kick a ball into a net on the opposite side of the pitch.. don’t know why EA decided to just give the Switch the lesser version for a while
Great we are now on the same level as a 10 year old console. Bought every Nintendo console released during my lifetime but maby it’s time to jump ship. Getting tired of getting 6 descent games each gen and not beeing able to play all the other 30+ triple A titles. It’s like watching everyone go to the candy store getting all these amazing flavours, while you have to eat poor man’s food every day.
