Known video game leaker I’m a Hero Too has posted on Reddit to clarify some points which were originally posted by an imposter on Snitch’s Discord server. I’m a Hero Too says that Square Enix have had Nintendo Switch 2 developer kits for a while now and are bringing Final Fantasy VII Remake to the upcoming system. He also confirmed that he can “verify the platform is backwards compatible with a few games tested.” The console uses new cartridges, which are presumably bigger, and the system has a new camera feature, lining up with previous leaks on Nintendo Switch 2 platform. Interestingly he says that Final Fantasy VII Remake “looks and runs like a PS5 game on Switch 2 devkit. He went on to say that the “port took no time I’m told. Could be a launch game, not sure.” It looks as though his Reddit account has now been deleted.
SEGA:
- Switch 2 devkits have been here a while, I can verify it is backwards compatible with a few games tested. New cartridge. New camera feature.
Square Enix:
- FF7R looks and runs like a PS5 game on Switch 2 devkit. Port took no time I’m told. Could be a launch game, not sure.

Hopefully FF16 in Switch 2, as PS5 is the first PlayStation I didn’t buy because of lack of good exclusives.
What a toolish comment. I’m satisfied in all that’s been released. As I game on switch and ps5 I am having a new Era of gaming at my finger tips in the coming months. FF16 was pretty good. I didn’t care for the ending but for what it was it was good. Zee
What a toolish comment. My PS5 collected dust for two years and I ended up selling it. It had a decent Demon’s Souls remake(I prefer the aesthetics of the original, upgraded with an emulator), a forgettable Ratchet & Clank exclusive that’s now on PC, and not much else. I didn’t like FF16 at all, it was Game of Thrones Final Fantasy and I found it kinda repulsive.
The PS5’s been out nearly 3 years now, and it has the worst lineup of first-three-year exclusives of any PS console including the Vita, with no sign of improvement outside of one Spider-Man game. My Switch and XSX still get attention, as do my PC, Steam Deck and Win Max 2, but my Vita and PS3 get way more attention than the PS5 ever did. Hopefully the Super Switch ends up rocking, I’m rooting for ’em.
Thats why I don’t buy new consoles till the PS Slim released and at the end of a Gen I always have 40-60 games easily that are rated between a 9 and 10 all Demon’s Souls , Red Dead Redemption , Witcher , God of War ect. level games. Also spending 5 to 20 bucks per game instead of 60+. The only reason to spend this much is if it’s a online game like CoD or Fifa and havent played those since the Ps3.
I’m never one to trust a rumor/leak. That said, it would be cool if this one were true. I’m not going to blindly believe this will happen, but backwards compatibility feels like a must have to make the Switch’s successor a successful platform. Also, this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I rather liked FF7 Remake. I would buy it for a fourth time (like an idiot) if it came to a Nintendo platform.
I don’t need or want my portable gaming device to have a camera at all. I wouldn’t support this feature at all.
Even if this is true or not, Switch 2 could run FF7R either way as the console has been almost confirmed by the Blizzard CEO to be as powerful as PS4 Pro. Usually when devs receive final dev kits, the console release is really close. It’s definitely a mid 2024 launch. They’re gonna announce it after Holiday 2023.
“been almost confirmed by the Blizzard CEO to be as powerful as PS4 Pro“
Huh? Last we heard it was around Xbox One / PS4, which seems much more likely if it is another handheld as rumoured.

Much more likely? A handheld bould be made with Series X and OS5 specs. A PS4 pro specs are probably just as much today as the Switch specs were in 17.
Sounds like BS to me. I doubt Nintendo would change their ways I can’t see Switch 2 being about graphics when the last few gens they haven’t cared for graphics.
What degree of graphics are u looking at because for a handheld that doesn’t cost 700 plus dollars… I’m am satisfied with what switch offers. Ps5 is sweet fills a gap since I don’t have a pc…nor could afford one without some major crimping.
If it has PS5 base graphics, am selling my PS5. Will get every third party on the Switch 2, plus Sony and Xbox games on my PC. What a wonderful time in gaming. Xbox and PlayStation games on PC-Switch 2 ( even if it’s two years after releasing and getting them). My switch library plus Nintendo’s own first party shall keep me entertained. I just knew that one day graphics would tapper out, and Nintendo’s innovation and game longevity would eventually organically muscle out the other two companies. This is the biggest win for video gaming 🎮. When they do release final fantasy VII remake on the switch 2, let it be the complete game. PS5 and PS4 can get it in episodes since they get the game early than all. As always keep gaming my friends, keep gaming.
F=ma.
I would be specticle (still am), but I kind of believe it when they say about a “Camera Feature” which knowing NIntendo… I wouldn’t put it past them to do something like turning the Switch 2 into not just a Hybrid Home Console and Portable Console, but also an AR device as well with actual AR Games.
Also, it looking close to PS5 quality might be due to DLSS 3.1 as previous rumours did suggest it had some custom cores from the Lovelace, but it’ll mainly be a hybrid of 30 series and 40 series.
If the camera is facing outwards I’m more open to that. Wouldn’t a camera in my face as I’m trying to enjoy a game. If the camera is pointed outward and used to catch pokemon with AR tech that would be fun and bring in pokemon go fans.
“Runs like a ps5 game” can be interpreted a few different ways. I’m not buying that is has ps5 horsepower, but maybe can play low scale version of ps5. Who knows with Nintendo. Wii and Wii U were big swings while Switch era is a little more conservative. Plus, Switch 2 will be compared to the Steam Deck not ps5, as far as raw power goes.
Well the PS5’s CPU is somewhere between a Ryzen 2700 and a Ryzen 3700 in terms of perf, and my Win Max 2’s CPU outperforms it if you feed it enough wattage(like 35w). I’d imagine FF7R would run internally at something like 720p, but with either some form of DLSS or cutting-edge FSR implementation that’d upscale it to a reasonably convincing 4K.
PS5’s CPU is totally surpassable in a handheld right now, and good 720p perf is already here in handhelds. I wouldn’t expect it to actually get an 8-core Ryzen CPU, probably some fancy affordable ARM chip, but the GPU’s the main bottleneck in a handheld right now and you can upscale the heck out of a lower-res image on-the-fly, so I think it’ll be fine.
Couldn’t care less about camera functionality as my Switch never leaves the dock. However, backwards compatibility is very welcome. Here’s hoping Switch games from last gen get a little performance boost on the new system. Some of them need it badly
“Known video game leaker I’m a Hero Too” What exactly is he known for leaking? Whenever you report a rumour like this I wish you’d also list the leaker’s history so we can judge if they’re actually reliable.
This would all be cool if true but I’ve never heard of this person before so I don’t know if I can trust it.
“This account has been suspended”
This is all you need. Someone claiming to be a specific leaker and deleting or getting banned from reddit is very common.
It’s gonna support DLSS 3.0 and Ray Tracing Overdrive. My source is my grandma.
Despite some negativity, I personally assume that Square Enix is mastering the Nintendo Switch 2 development kit. Thanks to Nintendo and NVIDIA’s custom made DLSS we could see Final Fantasy VII Remake presented in HD or Full HD on the small screen and upscaled 4K in docked mode.
I’ll look forward to Nintendo’s new hybrid platform including the line-up of launch titles coming from Nintendo and third parties whenever they see fit.
Anyone know if the Gulikit kingkong pro controller is future proof to work with Switch 2? It’s a great controller almost as good as the Switch Pro.
If the cart slot is also backwards compatible, much like the DS on 3DS… cool. If it’s just BC with digital games then I can wait for the exclusive library to build up over the first few years. I have plenty to play on Switch as is.
