Eurogamer and VGC say Nintendo demoed Switch 2 to developers at Gamescom

Gamescom was a great chance for European gamers to try out the latest and greatest upcoming games for a variety of platforms. Today, Eurogamer and also VGC report that Nintendo used the opportunity to demo their next Switch system to developers behind closed doors. Neither VGC or Eurogamer were invited to the presentation, so the news comes via their sources. Eurogamer reports that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was demoed on the new system as a tech demo with improved visuals and framerate. It is not clear if it will be released. It seems Nintendo is aiming to launch the successor to the Nintendo Switch in the autumn/fall next year, though this is obviously not confirmed. VGC says that the handheld hybrid features Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling technology and that the Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 tech demo was also running on the system.

“One Switch 2 demo is a souped up version of Switch launch title Zelda: Breath of the Wild, designed to hit the Switch 2’s beefier target specs. (To be clear, though – this is just a tech demo. There’s no suggestion the game will be re-released.)”

  1. I am now starting to get really excited about this. Rumours are rumours I know, but there are too many going around now for this not to be legit.

I was completely against Nintendo releasing information while the Switch is still selling extremely well. But it could turn out to be a very smart move releasing a Sw2 next year and just reduce the Sw1 to half the price, of which Im sure they would still make a margin.

    1. They wont. Prolly it will be priced at 400 bucks and the oled goes to 300 while all other older models gets plhased out.

  2. LOL! It doesnt mean anything to me. Nintendo Switch was underpowered system and a failure. No 3rd party. And most ps3 games was imported to Nintendo Switch ans a few PS4 as well. What a shame. And a waste of money. I prefer 3rd party. Hello, Sony. BYE BYE my long time fan of Nintendo since Super Nintendo. You dont know anything about the video game anymore.

    1. “Nintendo Switch was an underpowered system and a failure”

      LOL !!!!!!!!

what nonsense we have there, oh my god….

Otherwise, Eurogamer is anything but reliable for me so…

    2. Oh I do miss this kind of trolling during the Wii U Era of MyNintendoNews, shows how even Zoomers suck at being trolls, brings a tear to my Millennial-Zoomer eye

    3. Wow, you must be trying really hard to delude yourself if you think the Switch is a “failure” in any form. It’s literally in the top 3 bestselling consoles of all time.

Welp, have fun with the PS5 and it’s 3 exclusives (which will eventually be released on PC anyway) I guess.

    4. I personally have to disagree with your malarkey. The Nintendo Switch may be “underpowered”, but (in reality) it is a powerful portable game system. Butt kissing Sony ain’t going to give you awards for status points. You’re ignoring the fact that the Switch had sold over 100 million units worldwide. Sony pony butt kissers like you don’t belong here and you know it.

    5. Are you high?!?! 😂🤣 there’s literally thousands of third party games on Switch. You really think Nintendo are there making Need for Speed and GTA? Get the f outta here! 😂🤣

    6. Sound like a Sony fan boy to me. Nintendo actually has most third party games in it which makes your whole comment moot. Add in the fact Sony has been nothing but a flop with the PS5 that is a double moot. Mine sits on the shelf and collects dust while I play mainly in my Xbox and Switch.

  3. Lets hope Nintendo doesn’t start porting Switch games to Switch 2 like Wiiu to Switch, just imagine Mario Kart 8 as their big fall release again.

  4. Hopefully the system just makes current switch games run better and at higher resolutions. That would be a huge selling point to get more life out of our current collections.

  5. Makes sense to release in near the fall. I’m looking at Nintendo’s commitment to Splatoon 3 for 2 years after release. This seems to match that timing.

  6. This one actually seems plausible as Breath of the Wild, though ran better on Switch, still had some massive Frame Rate dips, so the new Nvidia Chip (Sounds like a custom chip using RTX 30 hardware) being able to run much faster and making the game run smoother would be a great example to show the performance of the system compared to the current Switch.

The Matrix Demo running on it though makes me caustious as that demo can barely run on even high end PC Hardware at times, and you need to downgrade a lot to get it running decently, so if the Switch 2 can pull it off with some magic trickery of DLSS, I will be frilled
