US: Madden No.1 game and Nintendo Switch 3rd during August 2023

The latest video game software and hardware sales are now in from the United States thanks to Circana (formerly the NPD Group) The best selling console for the month of August was the PlayStation 5 which was followed by Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch in third. The best-selling video game of the month was the latest entry in the long-running Madden series, Madden NFL 24. However, it should be noted that Nintendo does not share digital sales figures from the eShop, so only physical sales are counted. Here’s the best-selling games for August 2023 in the USA:

  1. Madden NFL 24
  2. Around Core VI
  3. Remnant II
  4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
  5. Hogwarts Legacy
  6. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
  7. Diablo IV
  8. MLB:The show 23
  9. Minecraft
  10. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

  1. Dang, 6 years in and still no proper NFL game on Switch. TOTK is an amazing feat for this system but for whatever reason the Switch can’t handle Madden. If Nintendo is serious about keeping up with 3rd party requirements with Switch 2, then Madden needs to be day 1 to let people know Switch 2 can hang.

    1. Nintendo doesn’t want no stupid Madden. The system has proven to clearly be able to handle the game, they just do not care to have it on their system. I don’t blame them honestly.

      1. Yeah, why would Nintendo want to earn their platform licencing fee on the hundreds of thousands of copies sold every single year?

  2. It’s surprising that they never made it tbh. Considering that the Madden games are famed for only small incremental yearly updates, it would have been an ideal investment. If 2K games can put out their yearly NBA 2K title and make a profit, I can’t see why EA couldn’t do the same. Hardware can’t be the limitation.
