The latest boxed video game software charts have come through from the largest gaming market in Europe, the United Kingdom, and there’s a new No.1 this week. This week sees Super Mario Bros. Wonder overthrow Spider-Man 2, which was last week’s best-selling video game. In other news, the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 entered the charts at No.4. Here’s the best-selling video games in the UK for the week ending 28th October, 2023:

This is so well deserved, Mario wonder is an absolute gem of a game and probably the current switchs last big title
While that’s nice and all, it didn’t do it in the week that mattered, which was last week on its debut. Sales fall off massively after week 1 and old games often top the chart because sales are so low.
Even decade old Wii U port Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has topped the chart several times over the years, and as recently as a couple of months ago it did so.
Week one doesn’t matter as much as total units before falloff. Both titles will sell very well through Christmas but I don’t think anyone predicts SM2 to outsell Mario, several recent Mario’s have come close to outselling all three (SM2018, PS5 remake, Miles Morales) SM games combined.
Probably because Sony double counted their sales.
