In less than a week, The Game Awards will be happening. For the time being, there isn’t a whole lot of information about what gaming announcements will be revealed there. However, if a cryptic message that is being shared around is any indicator, we may now know at least one company that has something to share.
You see, a Twitch streamer has shared footage saying that they have been sent a letter by SEGA. The letter teases “new era, new energy” and suggests to tune in to The Game Awards on December 7th. The back of the letter has the company logo, but that is all the letter says in general.
So, what is SEGA teasing? it’s hard to say. It could be the “Super Game” that SEGA has been talking to investors in financial briefings about. It could be a new Jet Set Radio game, of which there have been rumors of. It could be a new game featuring a new IP from Yakuza developer RGG Studio that the devs have mentioned being in development as early as 2021. As for SEGA’s flagship franchise, it’s unlikely, but with how much the franchise has branched out in recent years, it’s not completely out of the question to see something related to Sonic the Hedgehog here. Whatever it is, it will be announced at The Game Awards. In the meantime, you can see the tweet from the receiver of SEGA’s letter down below.

sonic adventure 3 BABYYYYY
I bet its probably just a trailer for the new Sonic Movie.
Hmm… What is “New Era, New Energy” referring to? Maybe to the “Super Game” and a possible rebrand of Sega to speak to modern audiences, which may explain “New Era”. The Super Game may be the rumored Jet Set Radio or Crazy Taxi, and “New Energy” may be referring to the energetic nature of these games. Who knows? There is a chance it is talking about a preview for the third Sonic movie, and “New Energy” is a reference to Sonic himself or a new speedster. We have to wait until December 7th to find out.
Wasn’t Sonic 06 a Sonic Adventure 3 though?
Maybe it’s something to do about Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth, i love Like A Dragon The Man Who Erased His Name!
I’m kind of predicting remakes of both Sonic Adventure games, especially 2. The Sonic 3 movie comes out next year and we know Shadow is going to be a huge part of it, so they might redo his debut game to build hype for the movie. Additionally, SA2 hasn’t been brought back to any modern platforms besides PC in 2012, so bringing the game to modern consoles will help the game reach more/new people, again, to build hype for Shadow’s movie appearance.
Just my thoughts.
Poor Mecha Sonic. Even though he was the first Sonic clone, Shadow gets to be live action first. But such is the way when you’re not the more popular one.
You know what? Maybe I’ll give Sega the benefit of the doubt. Go ahead Sega, prove to me that you can do something right.
A new Jet Set Radio would be huge, especially with the franchise’s cult following and the recent leaks hinting at its return. And if RGG Studio’s new IP is ready for a reveal, that could be massive too, considering how strong their track record is.
I appreciate the depth of research and clarity in your writing. It took me a little while to read all of the comments, but I found the article to be quite intriguing.
This is such an intriguing move by Sega—sending cryptic letters to Twitch streamers definitely has the gaming community buzzing! I’ve also been experimenting with a photo booth web tool to capture fun reaction shots while streaming.
This SEGA cryptic letter campaign is such a clever marketing move—sending mysterious “new era, new energy” teasers to Twitch streamers creates perfect buzz before The Game Awards, and it reminds me of the strategic anticipation-building that makes events like Mage Arena tournaments so exciting when developers drop hints about upcoming content.

Exciting stuff! SEGA teasing something big always gets the hype going.
Can’t wait to see what SEGA has in store!
SEGA sending cryptic letters is such a clever marketing move.
The hype for The Game Awards is real!
The phrasing “new era, new energy” really stands out. SEGA doesn’t use that kind of language lightly, so it suggests a major shift — possibly a new IP or a reboot fans aren’t expecting. The Game Awards has become a prime stage for surprise announcements, so excitement is definitely warranted.
I love how SEGA leans into mystery marketing like this — it immediately sparks discussion in the community. Jet Set Radio rumors have been floating around for years, and every tease sets fans’ imaginations on fire. If you’re looking for something fun to play between refreshes on Twitter/X, the fast-paced is a great quick distraction.
What makes this especially exciting is how open-ended it is. SEGA has so many beloved franchises, and with their recent push into new genres and experimental projects, the possibilities are wide open.
Beautiful insight :)
SEGA really knows how to build hype, and this kind of cryptic teaser feels very on-brand ahead of a big event like The Game Awards. It’s interesting how speculation alone can drive so much engagement in the gaming community.
This is a classic example of viral marketing done right—minimal information, strong wording, and just enough mystery to get everyone talking.
The build-up to The Game Awards always feels electric, especially when big companies like SEGA get involved with cryptic messaging. Sound and music also play a huge role in hype and branding.
This kind of teaser shows how presentation and creativity matter just as much as the announcement itself. Gaming culture today blends streaming, visuals, and identity more than ever.
SEGA’s mysterious approach really highlights how much modern gaming announcements rely on visuals and speculation. Whether it’s concept art, trailers, or branding, presentation sets the tone.
It’s always exciting when major publishers start dropping hints instead of straightforward announcements. That mystery fuels discussion across Twitch, Twitter, and forums.
