Games Industry has gathered a bunch of analysts and key players in the industry to discuss their speculations for this year and one of those interviewed was Dr. Serkan Toto, from Kantan Games. He believes that Nintendo will release their follow up to the Nintendo Switch later this year, though he expects the system to be an iteration rather than a full on revolution. Dr. Toto believes that the Switch 2 will be priced up at around $400. Here’s what he had to say:

“Switch 2” will come and be $400
The time is finally here for a Switch successor, even though I can say a “Pro” model actually did exist and certain developers were already working with the dev kit. I believe the next hardware will drop next year for $400. There is a high chance that games will cost more, too: $70. The next system is also likely to be an iteration rather than a revolution. Nintendo might add some bells and whistles to the device, but it will be similar to the current Switch. And because there is Pokémon, and Pokémon is associated with handheld gaming, there is no way on earth Nintendo will drop the portability feature for their next big thing.
Didn’t Activision already confirm its on par with PS4. That would certainly suggest an upgrade rather than iteration

Contradictes by who? Anyone that’s ever talked about the switch 2 has always been an “insider” no official statement has been made other than the FTC vs MS leaks. Which is where Bobby told everyone that Nintendo had already showed him the Switch successor and how they would be bringing COD to the next console. Most of the leaks from that trial have already come to fruition. The new Series S with larger storage. The Slim PS5 along with the new PS “Handheld” console. The PS5 Pro. How ES6 is going to be XBOX exclusive and the upcoming Xbox Brooklin.

The Series S is nearer to the PS4 Pro than PS5. Thats what they mean
by iteration, they mean it’s not going to be an entirely new console, like the difference between GameCube and Wii, and more like an upgrade from PS4 to PS5 where overall it’s the same system in looks and function, just upgraded hardware and some new tech like the haptic trigger, but nothing substantially new or different, also from what IU recall that Ubisoft “confirmation” was misunderstood and wasn’t any confirmation at all but I think them guessing what the power level could be like, personally, I really hope it’s at least at the power level of the PS4 pro, but knowing Nintendo, and how they can accomplish so much with so little, even with the power of the base PS4, the games developed by them are gonna be crazy, like it still baffles me that they managed to accomplish what they did with ToTK on switch hardware let alone BoTW on the Wii U, imagine that running on a system that ran games like GOW and FFVIIR, RDR2, and Control, its still gonna be pretty exciting
Nintendo is still keeping quiet of their projects and people is still not going to let go of the Switch pro rumor. Even in this new year we are in.
I think if Nintendo pulled an SNES on us and just made a more powerful Switch, I don’t see any problems with that.
I just hope they don’t try and lose focus on what made the Switch unique in the first place.
I can see the Switch probably being slightly better than a Steam Deck due to it using a Amphere, but do NOT expect them to up the res to like 1080p on the display itself, I can see it doing roughly 720p like the first gen Switch, probably with a nicer panel like OLED but obviously cheaper so something like Mini LEDs. Also, I can see Ray Tracing kind of being put on the backfoot of the system as I can’t see Nintendo unitilizing a feature I feel is not really needed to make a nice looking game, it’s just a mid Gimmick that I feel is only really useful in Movies and Animated Shows.
I also see a reveal sometime in March and a release in November coming up to Chrimbo.
I could see them doing a middle-ground resolution of 900p. I agree that 1080p isn’t too likely, and really not that much needed on such a small screen, be it 7-inch or 8-inch.

I think I would be okay with the next system not being a revolution. I blame the gimmicks no one asked for-like the DS’ touch screen and the Wii’s motion control-for the dropping quality of Nintendo games if not games in general.
Funny how those systems you mentioned are two of the highest selling and most successful gaming systems of all time, while also known for having phenomenal games on them too.

I’m cringing at that 70$ figure. The Switch is already going to have lower graphidelity than the PS5 or XSX, it would be really stupid for nintendo to charge 70$ for Skyword Sword 4K

I’d much sooner throw $70 at Nintendo’s games than the slop most Western studios have been putting out.
The reality is that games cost more than ever to produce, and they stayed at $60 for too long. The price hike was inevitable. If Sony hadn’t started that train, someone else would’ve.
It’s crazy seeing people complain about a $70 game. These games keep getting bigger and bigger, cost keeps increasing, and wages are rising, but some how, people expect these games to turn a profit so another gets green lit all while still keeping a price tag from over a decade ago. Did the Insomniac leaks not teach anyone anything? Even at $70, a game like Ratchet and Clank for the PS5 made a $500 profit. Not $500,000 but an anemic $500 profit.
Edit: Sunset over drive made the $500 profit, Ratchet & Clank made an $8 million loss.
Bogus analysis… it’s been 20 years that Nintendo hasn’t worked like this, you just have to listen to the president of Nintendo Japan to understand that the switch 2 doesn’t exist and that the successor will necessarily be different and a release in 2024, I’m starting to doubt.
Most PS5 games for $70 you get the PS4 edition and PS5 edition for one price, and certain PS4 games have a free next gen upgrade or a $10 next gen upgrade. Besides that, games go on sale frequently and you can usually get PS5 games for less then the sticker value. No one said anyone had to purchase new games day one release.
If Nintendo makes the Nintendo Switch successor so people can use the same account they already have they could do something similar, the games might cost more but the dev’s give incentive. You might get the last gen and current gen edition for one price or a free next gen upgrade.
