Did.. you even look at the guide before posting this article? All of the sparkling power recipes the guide lists have 2 herba mystica, and the game was released in November of 2022, making the guide closer to being a year and a half after Scarlet and Violet came out.
I think they were referring to using one type of Herba Mystica instead of two different types. It’s still two but some only use two of the same ones.

As far as HAVING a shiny goes, the first catch basis makes your particular version of that Pokemon species unique (unless you just scum-breed for the strongest Pokemon with a perfect nanture and 6IVs, while limiting your collection to Pokemon currently rocking the competitive metagame until superceded or banned).
Then there are those Pokemon who have distinct designs (but the same color scheme) based on gender, or Pokemon who have even physical/special attack stats. Ex: The non-shiny can have a physical moveset, while the shiny (unless it’s design is too subtle or uninspired) has a special moveset.
Male Pyroar: Non-Shiny, Female Pyroar: Shiny
Blue Tangrowth: Physical, Shiny Green Tangrowth: Special (and vice-versa).
