A known video game leaker who correctly leaked Metroid Prime Remastered shadowdrop and Mario vs. Donkey Kong for Switch has teased that fans should expect a new Legend of Zelda game featuring Princess Zelda as the main character. All the capital letters in the post on the social network X spell out “This is a hint.” Fans have been wanting a game featuring a playable Princess Zelda for a long time, so we could finally be getting one. As always this is a rumour, so take it with a grain of salt at present.

Like with most rumors, I’ll keep it in mind but put little to no stock in it, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t want a Zelda game where Zelda is center-stage.
The series is called The Legend of ZELDA; I think she deserves a player character role after all this time. But it has to make sense, and I don’t want to drop Link from the game either.
Since when does the title of a game determine which character the playable one is? 🤔

That would be awesome. I loved playing as Zelda in ‘Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity’ with her powers and we just got a new Princess Peach spinoff game so I see no reason why Zelda can’t have her own spinoff game too.

Personally I didn’t really like botw/totk design that much… And with the scrapped hair I’m happy they chose the one they chose because the others look very …..low mid
This would be interesting. I don’t think we’ll ever see a mainline Zelda game where she is the main protagonist, just because it’s stated so much Link is supposed to be a blank slate for the character to project onto (hence why he’s always silent). I believe I recall them expressing some interest in this premise, so I could certainly see this being a spin-off. The timing of this rumor essentially confirms this, as there’s no way in the world a new mainline Zelda is anywhere NEAR finished with Tears of the Kingdom having come out so recently. In that case, it’s more likely that this would have been one of the ideas dropped when brainstorming the next mainline Zelda game before the premise is decided on and greenlit.
I definitely wouldn’t rule out a spin-off, that seems much more likely. We have gotten several Tingle spin-offs on Nintendo DS, lol. My only worry would be in terms of its quality. It would have little to no main Zelda Team devs, and unless it’s being handled by a capable external studio, it definitely sounds like a hard pitch to a major audience. It would need either a really good hook, a super high quality and healthy production, or a mixture of the two.

Zelda never been playable in any main Zelda games. So this could be the first time. Leakers are very good on leaking info. So this is a most accurate info I have seen.
Technically, Zelda is playable in Spirit Tracks. Also, not every leaker is true to their word.

Both cases was her own actions, she was never held against her will.
My uncle from Nintendo has confirmed this rumor and it will be a Switch 2 launch but will come to Series X/S and PC with cross saves a few months after the Switch 2 version.

I personally would say this can be 1 of 3 things
1. It’s fake which I always default to if there’s nothing beyond words
2. It could be a Zelda Spin-Off of sorts
3. They make a game that covers the time Zelda was with Rauru and Sonia.
Number 3 would have been DLC if they did that and they said they were done with the story. It is possible they go back on their word but it’s unlikely. Either way we will see if this “rumor” is just pulling things out from the place where the sun don’t shine.

My mind goes to a kiddy game like the princess Peach, fun and playable but simple. If the next top down assignment style starred Zelda that would be dope. What would be really cool is taking the BOTW engine and tweaking it for Zelda movements, and scaling down the game for a more focused adventure.
