The annual Consumer Electronic Show otherwise known as CES has been taking place with a whole host of new gadgets and technology showcased. Sony has their own presentation at the event and one thing which was talked about by Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida was Nintendo’s upcoming live adaptation of The Legend of Zelda which is being produced by Sony Pictures. Mr. Yoshida said that he is very excited about the movie, which has been a long time coming, and he said that it will deliver an amazing tale of adventure and discovery. A release date for The Legend of Zelda movie has yet to be confirmed.
Sony CEO says he’s “excited” for The Legend of Zelda movie

One might think they would learn after how bad the live action Mario movie was, and just do an anime adaptation for Zelda.
I think after 30 years they’re capable of doing things differently…
The only reason the 90s Super Mario Bros movie was bad was because Ninty didn’t get heavily involved in the making of the movie. Same reason the CDi Zelda games were trash, too. And let’s not forget the Legend of Zelda cartoon was pretty terrible, too. So why should making a Zelda anime be any different if we’re honestly gonna judge a live action Zelda movie’s potential by the failure of a 90s Mario movie? By that logic, a Zelda anime would end up being just as terrible.
I don’t trust Sony but I trust that Mr. Mitamoto and company won’t let them screw things.
Exactly this. It’s good that Nintendo has majority investment on this or else Sony (and their fanboys) will start claiming Zelda as one of their own. I believe in Nintendo, not at all at Sony.
