Every June, Summer Game Fest occurs. This year is no different, with the Summer Game Fest presentation happening in just 4 days. A bunch of video gaming companies participate in the festivities, which involve sharing news during the presentation or being a part of the invite-only media and influence event known as Summer Game Fest Play Days. The latter always follows the same weekend that the presentation occured.
However, despite this quickly becoming a yearly thing, there has been very little presence from Nintendo. A big reason for this is due to Nintendo’s preference in having a Nintendo Direct instead, which normally happens the same month. Nintendo has already confirmed that a general Nintendo Direct will be happening this month.
That all said, Summer Game Fest creator and host Geoff Keighley recently held a Q&A on Twitch, where he was asked about Nintendo’s participation in the event. Nintendo has always been welcome to participate, and Keighley has even stated that he and the rest of the team “always hope that it’ll be the right year for them to come in and get involved” but Nintendo has yet to do so. You can see Keighley’s remarks about the matter in full down below.
“Never really had Nintendo be a big part of Summer Game Fest yet, we always hope that it’ll be the right year for them to come in and get involved, but it hasn’t happened yet. It’s nice to have a couple announcements from companies, but it’s nice to spread things around across different places. They kind of need their own thing to support all that stuff, it’s an always evolving landscape. Summer Game Fest is you know, is not just a two hour show, it is really is a whole sort of time period. We don’t lay claim to those events, those companies are doing those events but we try and bring everyone together so the audience can sort of have a journey through all these announcements”

Go to hell, Doritos Pope. The crap you pulled to Aonuma and co is why Nintendo is sending you the middle finger recently.
Baldur’s Gate 3 deserved that W, that game is way too good for this generation
I am pretty sure he means how they didn’t let Aonuma to say his speech.
Don’t make me laugh. You think every Zelda deserves a GOTY award for just existing?
I would significantly prefer that Nintendo just keep doing their own Direct. Also, it’s funny that he is trying to pretend that Nintendo’s June Direct is in any way related to his “Summer Game Fest”. This guy sure has some ego.
Jeff got a huge ego boost after the death of E3, I still think he is a cool dude, he looks very passionate about videogames
Where I’m coming from we called people like him a “Leech”.
Thank goodness the current Nintendo management doesn’t bow their heads to the doritos pope but in the other hand if Reggie were still in charge…
Sorry King Nepo Baby, Nintendo doesn’t pay to play.
