Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has explained to investors and fans that they will be holding a Nintendo Direct presentation this June which will focus on the games for the rest of the year on Nintendo’s current platform. He said that there will be no mention of the successor to the popular Nintendo Switch console, presumably called Switch 2, so don’t be on the look out for that. However, they will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year.

Well, better late than never. I knew we would get some news in June. If the lack of E3 didn’t stop Nintendo from announcing the wrong ARMS rep in Ultimate back in 2020, why would it stop Nintendo from announcing something now?
Uh, no, we’re not going to have any news in June… Furukawa-san says the opposite! He just said we’ll have news before the end of the fiscal year, so by March 2025, but not in June! And I’m willing to bet that it will be like with the Switch: video in September, presentation in January and release in March 2025 at best

I suppose we can go into the summer now and not be disappointed when there’s no news on the successor when probably half expecting it.
I would assume Nintendo will show off something later in the year to build up speculation and then hopefully a release by March/April 25.
Obviously there has to be a point in time where Nintendo give out information even if it will sacrifice current switch sales.
Good time to start those current switch hardware discounts for Christmas, you’d be mad to buy one now when there bound to be reduced for Christmas sales just before all the attention turns to switch 2 ( or whatever it’ll be named )
I am not only glad that Nintendo announced a June Direct, but also got ahead and managed expectations ☺️
