The Verge has published a report this evening stating that Microsoft’s new Project Latitude, which is the internal name for bringing more of its Xbox and PC games to rival platforms, is rolling full steam ahead. The site reports that Microsoft is looking to “bring more games to rival consoles like the PS5 and Nintendo Switch” though it’s unclear what these games are and whether they would be aiming for the next Nintendo console, which is rumoured for early next year, rather than the current Switch console. Here’s the details:
“At the heart of all the turmoil leading up to this Xbox showcase are strategy shifts for both hardware and first-party games. Microsoft has promised a big technical leap for its next-gen Xbox, and the company is rumored to be working on an Xbox handheld. But there’s an ongoing project to bring more games to rival consoles like the PS5 and Nintendo Switch that could undermine both hardware efforts.”
“The plan that’s proven so controversial with hardcore Xbox fans is known internally as “Project Latitude,” sources familiar with Microsoft’s efforts tell me. Project Latitude started off with an initial wave of games, including Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded, heading to the PS5, with some going to the Nintendo Switch, but the plan extends beyond these four games and into some titles that might surprise Xbox fans.”

I don’t wanna be the console war guy, but I see no reason of owning new Xbox or ps console after this generation, I have a gaming pc and a switch and I can literally play almost anything this generation and next has to offer, Nintendo will probably dominate the next one too, why owning a ps5 or a series x when almost every game on those consoles are multiplat
You’re just stating facts. Switch+PC is the best combo.
Ease of use, BUT if this trend does continue. I’ll most likely be dropping Xbox next generation and just sticking to switch and PC. I already dropped PS last gen, and I honestly don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything, so this just makes things easier. Or less cumbersome ony media center.
I’m just hoping that Palworld gets ported for Playstation at some point.
That’s the sound of Nintendo winning, thats the sound of Sony and Microsoft surrendering.
the real problems of sony and mcirosft are: consoles too close to PCs, a long and expensive development time for them and the developers and finally they are relatively expensive even if it is secondary in reality when compared to the prices of certain pc and that many buy despite everything
And finally, as many have said: they bring nothing compared to the PC which is scalable where the switch is (or rather was) unique, it is not for nothing that Valve and others have copied its concept……
This is why I moving to pc in the very near future.
The only console I might still buy is Nintendo for their exclusives, but tbh lately even Nintendo exclusives have been lackluster.
I don’t like Mario games at all anymore, I was never A Kirby fan, Pokemon is just complete broken trash now, the Zelda franchise lost me with the weapon fragility nonsense in the last 2 games, Mario Kart is okay but getting tired of MK8, Smash Bros just isn’t for me, Nintendo is illergic to F-Zero for some dumb reason, and they refuse to port StarFox from the wiiu to switch with regular controls.
Nintendo recently got off their asses to finally put out more Netroid games, but are now dragging their feet with Prime 2 and 3 for some idiotic reason.
The least they could do is make a StarFox collection with StarFox Adventures and Assault for the Switch or whatever new system they release, I would buy those games in a heartbeat.
I needed Star Fox Adventures on Switch YEARS ago!
They should’ve ported Sunset Overdrive to switch.
Even though Insomniac owns the Ip now, Microsoft still has publishing rights of the first game, similar to sega owning publishing rights to Bayonetta 1 and Nintendo has publishing rights over Bayo 2 and 3 while Platinum own the rights to the IP.
Gamers have no idea the long term implications of less competition. We live in what’s known as ‘Chinese capitalism’ in other words absolute phony with nothing real to hold it up.
