Donkey Kong Country Returns HD priced at $60

The surprise remaster of Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Nintendo Switch has appeared for pre-order on the Nintendo eShop and is priced at $59.99. It will be a while before we can get our hands on it as it’s not scheduled for release until 16th January, 2025. Either way, it is set to be a full price HD remaster for Switch. Here’s what to expect:

Jump, roll, and stomp through Donkey Kong Island in 2D platforming action

Help Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong recover their precious banana hoard from the villainous Tiki Tak Tribe! Stomp enemies, blast through barrels, and ride rockets and mine carts (and even Rambi the rhino) in 80 levels across nine worlds.

Play the game as it was first designed for the Wii™ system, or reduce the difficulty for extra hearts and other goodies to make your journey a little easier. This barrel-blasting adventure is visually enhanced in HD for the Nintendo Switch™ system and includes the extra levels from the Nintendo 3DS™ version!

Team up with a friend and take on the whole game as Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong

Pass a Joy-Con™ controller to a buddy and take on the Tiki Tak Tribe as DK and Diddy in two-player local play. Pelt foes with Diddy’s Peanut Popgun and hover using his Barrel Jet, and slam bad guys into submission with DK’s Ground Pound—or just Barrel Roll right through them. Work together to reclaim those bananas by the bunch!

  1. It’s a good game. But so was Metroid Prime and it’s HD release was only $40.

Also they were both made by Retro originally so it’s kinda interesting.

  2. I think they need to price both DK games down at this point. I like it as much as the next guy but lordy full price is diabolical

    1. DKCR is clearly a Nintendo classic at this point given how many times it is rereleased. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do a “Super Deluxe HD Remake” with 2 new levels for the Nintendo Switch successor. 🙃

  3. Great game, but I have it on Wii and 3ds so as much as I’d like to play the hd remaster il wait for it to be in a sale for sure.
Very pricey if you’ve already played/own it on other formats

    1. Anonymous Skywalker

As opposed to $70 for CoD that doesn’t even have 1/5 of the game while the rest of the chopped up game is locked behind multiple paywalls? So who’s outta touch?

      1. You can’t even defend it with cod, it’s even more lazy than that, at the very least cod tries to be a different game, this one is a remastered of a game that got rereleased 3 times and it looks bad

  4. Nintendo rarely puts their games on sale but this will 100% be one of yheir “Black Friday” type sale games.

  5. Nope.avi

Might have considered if it was priced same as Metroid but i rather just take the dust off my 3DS.

  6. If they give us the option to turn off that pig that asks if you want to skip this part of the level, I would pay. I loath that pig and the noise it makes. Adding to my frustration of attempting a cart level. “Are you sure you don’t want to give up?”. Yes I’m sure! Piss off and let me play in peace you condescending p.o.s.
