Mortal Kombat 1 “Khaos Reigns” expansion krashes onto Nintendo Switch in September

Year 2 of Mortal Kombat 1 is now underway, with NetherRealm Studios having announced a colossal story and gameplay expansion titled “Khaos Reigns” at San Diego Comic-Con for release on September 24.

Khaos Reigns will include additional story chapters, the return of Animalities, and Kombat Pack 2- containing Ghostface from Scream, T-1000 from The Terminator, Conan the Barbarian, Noob Saibot, and female versions of Cyrax & Sektor. The release date for the three guest fighters is unknown as of now, but the three from the Mortal Kombat series will drop in September alongside the story expansion.

Animalities will be part of a free update, but to see the khaotic continuation of Mortal Kombat’s 1 story, and to get their hands on Kombat Pack 2, Nintendo Switch players will have to buy the entire Khaos Reigns expansion for $39.99 or their regional equivalent. A bundle including the first Kombat Pack alongside the new content from Khaos Reigns will also be available for purchase, but Kombat Pack 2, unfortunately, cannot be bought on its own.

Readers can view the age-restricted trailer for the expansion on YouTube here.

  1. Love this line up so much. Scream is a top 5 movie of all time for me and Noob Saibot is top 3 MK characters ever for me (literally just named our new cat Boon also). So hyped!

Also, before anyone belly aches about gender swapping Cyrax and Sector, this is a new universe entirely from previous MK timeline if y’all been snoozing on it, so it’s different characters entirely. ;)
