Capcom comments on lack of Monster Hunter Wilds for Nintendo Switch

One of the biggest games lined up for next year is Capcom’s latest entry in the long-running monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter Wilds. The action-packed game isn’t destined for the Nintendo Switch and investors asked the company why that is at the latest shareholder meeting. Capcom says that the reason is because they want to utilise “the latest technology to its limit.” You can read the company’s full statement below.

Q: You have announced Monster Hunter Wilds for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, but not for portable platforms like the Nintendo Switch. Will this game be limited to these non-portable consoles?

A: One concept we’ve incorporated into this title is aiming to portray the maximum of the world of Monster Hunter by utilizing the latest technology to its limit. To that end, the platforms capable of realizing that concept are currently the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Going forward, we will provide more thorough details regarding these concepts and themes when we release information on the game. We hope you look forward to it.

  1. this feels like a complete non-question tbh. of course it wasn’t gonna be on the switch, look at the graphics

  2. Also, Steam Deck and Rog Ally will probably be able to play it portably. How knows, maybe the next Switch will be able to.

But glad they decided to go for more powerful hardware. MH World, IMO, was way better than Rise in most aspects.

      1. Blame that on the devs. Making every single AI scheduled at once in the world, have all of them with real time physics/interactions with the environment and not one single instance to save on resources. I could assure you if they optimized it better and let the 2 major cities be instanced (completely separated via a loading screen), it would’ve solved alot of performance issues.
Since this was really bottlenecking the CPU.

      2. Blame that on the devs.
They had every single AI scheduled at once in the game world, they had all enemies/npcs have real time physics and environmental interaction; While also not having a single loading screen.

If they better optimized how these AI were scheduled from a certain section of the map separation, optimized the npcs/enemies better AND instanced the 2 major cities (put them behind loading screens when going inbetween the open world and the cities themself)
Then the game would’ve ran much better. It was heavily bottlenecking the CPU.

  3. 1v1.LOL offers a tense yet exciting 1v1 arena experience. The competition and the feeling of victory when defeating an opponent is truly worth it.

  4. Capcom confirmed at a shareholder meeting that Monster Hunter Wilds is only coming to PlayStation 5, ulrich klose rtl krank parkinson Xbox Series X|S, and PC. They explained the decision stems from their goal to push the latest technology to its limits, which current portable platforms like the Nintendo Switch cannot fully support.
