Sonic Team boss will continue to deliver content that “stays true to the Sonic universe”

The head of the Sonic Team, Takashi Iizuka, has participated in a varied interview with 80LV during which he said that the team remain committed to investing in new projects and delivering content that stays true to the Sonic universe. He points towards Sonic Racing CrossWorlds which is getting a second season of content and the intriguing Sonic x PICO PARK collaboration as examples of this.

“Each of the different pillars contributes in meaningful ways to the Sonic franchise, and we’re looking forward to what we have in store. As you saw at Summer Game Fest, we have a consistent slate of post-release content for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds… The introduction of a second season signals our long-term investment in the game. While keeping momentum in such a competitive market is always a challenge, our team remains dedicated to delivering content that stays true to the Sonic universe.”

  1. PR talk. They don’t vare about the Sonic Universe or staying true to it. Sonic Colors and up the Flanderized every character and dumbed everything down. That’s ontop of not even being able to make a great Sonic Game. I still think Shadow’s gameplay in the Generations rerelease is the closest we got to something great in a mainline Sonic game besides Mania. Instead of making Sonic Sonic, they want the characters to appeal to tablet babies. Maybe the games would do better if Sega had more respect and integrity for who and What Sonic is. Mario is still Mario and that worked out great for Nintendo.
