Respected US video gaming publication Game Informer has announced today that they have closed for good, which will come to a blow to the talented journalists working there along with fans of the magazine and the insightful Game Informer website and podcast. Kotaku reports that staff were all brought into a meeting on Friday with parent company GameStop’s VP of HR and told that the publication was closing immediately and that they were all laid off. Here’s the message Game Informer published on X.

Never thought this day will come. First Mario and Sonic series and now this. I guess they completed it’s final level! Thank you Game Informer! Game on! 🎮
Ouch… Man I used to love gameinformer in the early 2010’s sad to see it go, can’t imagine how hard it had to be once the internet was available on almost everything.
So last two now are Edge and Famitsu? I wonder when they will stop.
I won’t worry at all for Famitsu since Japan is known for their love of physical things and also Japan itself is the home for lots of premiere gaming companies which they can have some insider infos/interviews.
Yes. That is true.
Hope for the best for those laid off.
Awful to see another pillar fall.
Man :(
Darn, first Nintendo Power, now Game Informer. It was inevitable, but still sad that it’s finally happened.
Yes. I’m very sad to see it good already. I was hoping for them to stay a little longer.
Meant to say go not good.
Gamestop Powerup Rewards members get a one year subscription to Game informer, wonder what incentive they will give people to become a Powerup Rewards member now.
