Rumor: Nintendo courting 3rd-parties for Switch remasters while Nintendo’s busy with Switch 2

The Switch 2 rumor mill continues to churn with no signs of slowing down. Nintendo had previously stated back in May that a proper announcement of the console would be happening before the end of the fiscal year this coming March. It is now October and the fiscal year will be ending in just 5 months. So, all that there is to go on is rumors.

For example, PH Brazil is now saying that Nintendo is allegedly courting some third-party developers to release some remasters on Nintendo’s hybrid console while Nintendo themselves remain busy with the Switch 2. PH Brazil notes that games that are planned for being remastered on the Switch include Splinter Cell Blacklist and Driver 1 and 2. Rayman 3 is also mentioned, though PH Brazil mentions that they’re not sure if this is related to today’s Rayman rumors.

Not everything is specifically named, however. Ubisoft has 2 more games that weren’t named that they plan to remaster for the Switch. EA has some Wii games coming. Meanwhile, Bandai Namco has something in the works as well, though it is only mentioned that they have a PS3 game being remastered. They apparently have something else, but it is unknown as to what it is exactly.

    1. You can just not buy the remasters. I don’t see the problem when they’re still releasing plenty of new games. Seeing how a lot of the remasters sold tons (especially Mario Kart), why wouldn’t they do it? Not many people owned the Wii U, so it was a good plan.

    2. You’re forgetting 2 things. 1. Switch games will be playable on Switch 2. and secondly, the switch 2 will be able to enhance switch games that have been programmed for it or if the dev releases a patch allowing it. So, it makes sense to just remaster specifically for the switch to keep the bazillion Switch players happy while Nintendo focus their efforts solely on their new Console.

    3. I think the main reason that we saw so many Wii U ports was the system sold really poorly but had a great library of games. It was an easy way to build the Switch library and give alot of people a chance to play some great titles.
