Fans of the fast-paced and action-packed Nier franchise will be pleased to learn that Yosuke Saito has teased that a new Nier game announcement could come in 2025. The news came as 4Gamer published its 2025 edition of its annual end-of-year interviews with Japanese game creators. Yosuke Saito was one of the many who were interviewed and teased fans by saying that the 15th anniversary could be the perfect time to tease the next game in the series.
“2025 will be a milestone year as it marks the 15th anniversary of the NieR series, so I’d like to do something for it! What should we do… maybe something with the next game, or developments related to that… I’ve been hearing the fans’ expectations. It’s a bit tricky, though… That said, as I’ll likely be doing less direct work as a producer, I’d appreciate it if you could patiently look forward to what’s coming.”
At the risk of sounding like a hater, how can they make a new Nier game after the way automata wrapped up?
Where do you take the story?
They could do a different story set between each titles or something different but still being a Nier title. Also, you don’t sound like a hater just being inquisitive.
I have a feeling it’ll be related to the ending of reincarnation. I know everyone talks about it like a spinoff, but it had some real relevance to the overall story towards the end

I will say the impact of the ending is lost a bit without playing the whole story, but it’s still important. And maybe reading a quick summary of “the sun and the moon” arc of the game will explain some stuff in the final arc
There was a whole story about 10h and the server on the moon. I won’t spoil any more unless you want me to. Haha! If you want to look it up yourself, the only really important arc was “the people and the world” and then the idea of the sun and moon souls
