Pokemon Champions on Nintendo Switch to be digital only paid game

It has been revealed that yesterday’s surprise announcement during the Pokemon Presents presentation, Pokemon Champions, is set to be a paid digital only release on the Nintendo Switch. Because it is not a free-to-play video game, you will need an active Nintendo Switch Online membership to participate in the online battles against other players.

  1. So for the Switch version, you’re asked to buy the game, then pay more money to actually play it.

    No!

This is just like Mario Maker 2. I won’t support this kind of product no matter how good it is.

  2. They better have enough NPC opponents and single player content to avoid diving into a $20 per year service that probably won’t reverse DEXIT.

The only thing all 1000+ Pokemon can share is storage data in PNG form, meanwhile BIG! EXCITING! TRAILER-SELLING! 3D models are only for Pokemon that matter.

Heck, if we’re excluding Pokemon again, then this might as well just be a feature in Legends Z-A. And Nintendo will STILL go after Showdown, using a corner-cutting half-baked product as an excuse, because god-forbid fans create something actually GOOD, as an alternative to their worst crime yet.
