Minecraft has been a thing for over a decade now. In fact, if you consider the years that the game was in its alpha and beta stages, it has now been over 15 years. The game is available on many different consoles, including the Nintendo Switch, and there has been updated versions released, including Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. There is also a movie coming out in theaters in less than 2 weeks from now.
Meanwhile, Mojang has been continuing their support for the game itself. In fact, they announced a new update that contains content that fans have been asking for many years. The update, which is called “Vibrant Visuals”, will give the game a graphic overhaul for the very first time. It will add “updated textures, directional lighting, volumetric fog, and much more”. It is also apparently the start of a plan Mojang has to fulfill their vision for Minecraft’s future.
It is slated to release in the coming months, and it will eventually be available on both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. It is worth noting, however, that it won’t be rolled out to everyone all at once. Bedrock Edition will get it first, but only on “compatible devices”. It will come to Java Edition later on. You can see the official announcement video about the matter down below.

Good to know Minecraft finally has an official shader. I never play Minecraft without shaders
Looks like it’s time i get back on Minecraft!
I didn’t think I was going to like this because I don’t tend to like the realistic or high fidelity shaders and texture packs on Minecraft – for me the game as presented now has its own unique beauty and trying to bring it to reality is missing the point. However, this update feels far more subtle than those, the lighting is looking a lot better but the game still looks like Minecraft. It looks like they’ve done a really good job. I’m guessing if it is not coming to some platforms the Switch will probably be one of those excluded. But it will probably be there on the Switch 2!
No Java edition, no play! |:(
