Rumor: Gamecube Switch Online a matter of “when, not if”

nintendo switch online

It is now less than 11 hours before the big Nintendo Switch 2 Direct happens. Despite all the rumors about the hardware itself, there hasn’t been any rumors on what games will actually be revealed at the presentation tomorrow. Not only that, but it isn’t really known what Nintendo‘s plans are for Nintendo Switch Online going forward. The subscription service will be back for the Switch 2, but that’s all we know.

Of course, even Nintendo Switch Online isn’t being spared from rumors. NateTheHate, who has been a very reliable insider and leaker, released a new podcast episode on YouTube earlier today. There, he revealed that “I’ve heard GameCube will be coming to NSO [Nintendo Switch Online]. It’s just a question of when, not if”. As for whether it will be revealed in the Switch 2 Direct, NateTheHate doesn’t outright say it will. He does, however, say that he thinks it’s “very likely”.

    1. Looking back at those comments is something else. There’s one person that kinda predicts some of what’s happening now, and if FZero does indeed get announced for the switch 2, then they’re prediction for the switch 2 is pretty spot on lol

    1. Let’s not be too dramatic. Most of the games released (to each region) would all fit on a 512GB drive. A 512GB SSD is like $30. You would definitely need an external drive to fit them all, BUT and there’s a huge but, that’s assuming that they released ALL of them lol I think we can safely agree, that that’s not going to happen, hell, it’s not happening any time soon.

  1. If that’s the case, fine..
But I really would’ve preferred remakes of Metroid 2 and 3
And a remake double pack of Zelda Wind and Twilight.
If they don’t happen then they might be bundled into this service.

  2. The GameCube was the third least successful Nintendo console ever made. I sold it quickly because of uninteresting games and software drought. I doubt I would pay more for the NSO subscription for only four notable games to consider (Mario, Zelda, Smash and F-Zero, and I’m doubtful about the last one).
Looking forward for a new F-Zero game for Switch 2, instead.

  4. Many Gamecube games makes use of it’s analogue triggers. The Switch joy cons and pro controller don’t have analogue triggers. You’d have to buy a Switch Online GameCube controller to be able to play the games. Can’t see them doing this with that limitation.

Looking at what little media is available of the Switch 2, it doesn’t appear to have analogue triggers either.

  5. Fro.. I would prefer remakes or remasters of GC games rather than a virtual console

But hey, I still don’t trust these “insiders”
