Marvelous is planning to unleash the intriguing Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The company’s frequently asked questions page says that the red Switch 2 Edition will work on both systems, though obviously if you insert the red 64GB cartridge into the Switch 2 you’ll get the superior version with the additional download. Here’s what the company says:
“There’s no need to download the full game: simply insert the card into either a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 console, and the correct version will launch automatically.
“Like most modern titles, there may be small updates or patches available at launch to provide minor fixes and improvements, but rest assured: the complete game is on the game card, ready to play from day one.”

That’s pretty cool, don’t know if every 3rd party will take advantage of this but cool nonetheless.
Hopefully this isn’t as confusing as it sounds.
Hasn’t it been confirmed Switch 2 cartridges will have a small notch on the bottom to prevent them from being inserted into the Switch 1? Maybe Switch 2 edition titles (or maybe just certain 3rd party ones?) don’t have it? I suppose it would make sense for just those

This is a pleasant surprise. I have questions, but I think this is pretty cool. I also wonder how many devs/publishers will take advantage of this.
It will be indeed a pleasant surprise, if you buy a Switch 2 game, which WON’T be playable on Switch. 😆
I wish some third party companies do bundles for their popular games as they did so in the past occasionally.
misleading title…. It is obvious that he is talking about a Switch 1 game which, as soon as it is launched on the new one, there will be a download of an update that improves the whole thing…
Reading you, one would think that a new switch game would be playable on the old one which is obviously not possible ..
