Only light and dark themes for Nintendo Switch 2 launch (unconfirmed)

Update: Nintendo Soup hasn’t published a source for this and some are questioning the validity so this is unconfirmed until we hear more.

Nintendo has announced that there will only be two themes for the Nintendo Switch 2 when it launches on 5th June. There will be the standard light and standard dark themes which we currently have on the current Nintendo Switch system. Whether the Kyoto-based company will create additional less sterile themes has yet to be announced.

  1. Zero sourcing on this, blatant fan mockup with a menu icon for Mario Kart World that couldn’t even be bothered to match the existing screenshots we already have. I know you guys are only human but this should be taken down.

    1. Yeah, I haven’t used them in a while. Looking into it not sure where their info stemmed from, but they must have been confident in it to publish article. Will mark this as unconfirmed at present 👍

  2. While I don’t mind the overly simplistic experience of Switch, I kinda miss the iconic ambient music of Wii and Wii U, and the themes of 3DS that always hyped me up for the specific game before I even started it.

    1. Some people forget how memorable an excellent menu music can be for the user experience of a game console. Sure, it isn’t strictly necessary for playing games, but music in general is a quick way to bring people enjoyment and attachment towards a product and the experiences they bring. All you have to do for proof is look at all the love people have for the Wii and 3DS era. Plus, music files are not at all obtrusive and would be easy to implement. Nintendo really dropped the ball for an easy win with the Switch 2 menu and the eShop.

    1. Just realised that Sickr has reverted to type and is just posting stuff without checking it’s validity. Guess that lasted a couple of posts then.

      1. As mentioned I haven’t used Nintendo Soup in a while and they used to be a place to source, so hey. Marked as unconfirmed anyway and deleted from socials.

  3. I still feel like Switch’s features were left unfinished after Iwata’s passing and Nintendo just rolled with it to cut corners on costs. Same reason why we started seeing controllers drift.
