Nintendo is now using Samsung to make Switch 2 chips to ramp up production

Bloomberg is reporting this morning that Nintendo has turned to Korean firm Samsung to help make customised chip or processors designed by Nvidia for the Nintendo Switch 2 using its 8-nanometer node. The news organisation reports that this decision will be a big deal for Samsung which is competing with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. The move is geared to ramping up production of the eagerly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2.

  1. One day, my home is gonna be full of Samsung electronics. Already got a smartphone & telly. So this puts a smile on my face, because when I get a Switch 2, I’ll have 3 devices powered by Samsung.

  2. Man imagine how much more power efficient Switch 2 could be if made on a smaller processor node. Though those are largely being saturated by Apple.
