CD Projekt Red started on Cyberpunk Switch 2 in summer 2023

IGN has published an insightful interview with Charles Tremblay, VP of Technology at CD Projekt Red, to discuss how the company went about bringing the acclaimed Cyberpunk 2077 to the Nintendo Switch 2. It would appear as though development started on the Nintendo Switch 2 version in summer 2023. Fast forward to today and it’s due to be released on Thursday when the Nintendo Switch 2 launches worldwide.

“At that point [there was] no Software Development Kit,” explains Tremblay. “Just more like ‘Okay, is there a possibility for us to collaborate with this hardware?’ I remember I was in the room and we just looked at each other. It was like, ‘Yeah of course we will check it [out], it looks like a really cool product.”

“It was way easier to have a very super small team working end-to-end with Nintendo rather than delegating the process,” says Tremblay.
